Fuller, easy
#2 is tough though, lots of guys who are fine, but shouldn't be first teamers. Metellus is burned more often than any DB in the Big Ten, but he's asked to do more, and clearly way too much. Brooks looks like he can be fantastic, then disappears for entire games. Stone I think probably winds up here in the postseason list, but I haven't seen enough yet. Dowell went from phenomenal in 2017, to just good, but not great last year, so he could wind up here if he recaptures his sophomore form.
-
Yeah, it’s Fuller by a long shot.
Metellus actually had a really good season last year. Didn’t get burned quite as much as previous years. Agree 100% on the he’s asked to do too much comment. It’s insane the things Don Brown asks of all his Safeties and Linebackers really. These guys shouldn’t be in man coverage with receivers and RBs, period. You’d think the old fart would learn his lesson. But he doesn’t.
-
Stone I believe is the most likely Iowa DB to have a breakout season.
Stone may not perform to the same level as Amani Hooker did for Iowa last year, when Hooker was named Big Ten DB of the year, but he will be a solid performer in Iowa's new 4-2-5 base defense that Iowa started playing last year.

Fuller, could be a thin year here

I actually think it's a really deep year of really good guys. I just don't see anyone other than Fuller that looks like a typical 1st team all-conference player. But there are guys who will end up HM, who could be 2nd team in the right year
-
Not for this round, Fuller is best, but Metellus is one of the best Michigan safeties of the last decade+.

I think that’s stretching things a little bit. He’s not even on Jamar Adams or Jarrod Wilson or Delano Hill’s level. Those guys were pretty good, but not elite.
The safety play at Michigan for the last decade plus has been atrocious. Really probably longer. When is the last legitimate high NFL draft pick they’ve had at safety? Been a looooong time. Jabrill got picked in the 1st round but he barely played safety at Michigan.
If Dax Hill isn’t a freshman AA and a 1st round pick in 3-4 years, then no elite HS safeties should come to Michigan like ever again.
-
Shazor would have, and he was still really good, but he was timed just wrong. Offenses had evolved and defenses hadn't yet adapted. Slightly earlier, he would have been a dominant enforcer safety, slightly later, he would have been a great LB.
-
Jamar Adams wasn't from the period I mentioned. So Metellus is in the top 3 for M over this era. And the other two were on this list.

He played well last year in Cleveland, settled in and was solid. He was sent packing in the Odell Beckham Jr trade but no reason he can't help the Giants out there
