A&M vs LSU
« on: November 19, 2018, 11:02:26 PM »
will this finally be the year?  I think it’s 8 in a row dating back to 2011 when we were in the Big 12 (bowl game). We were Big 12 South co-champs and they beat us like a drum in that game and most of the ones since.

Personally I like our chances. We can stop the run fairly well but not the pass. LSU doesn’t have much of a passing game but I expect them to move the ball through the air fairly easily.

If we don’t turn the ball over and maybe get 1-2 turnovers from LSU (unlikely) we’ll win. Seriously no team should waste time running the ball against us when we cannot stop the pass.

Games at Kyle and the stadium should be rocking.

Gig ‘Em.

Should be an interesting game.  I don't know where LSU is "mentally" right now.  I should think about this in my weekly guessing results column.

Will be an interesting test.  A&M has been as good as there in conference against the run.  They have been beyond bad against the pass.  LSU doesn't run the ball well, so on paper that's a no-go.  LSU throws pretty well if the line can give the QB time and WRs don't drop everything which has not been often.

What LSU has not done is show they can move through the air when the run game doesn't help out.  LSU threw the ball well against Arkansas and Ole Miss, but the Hawgs and Rebears don't stop the run well either.  LSU could not throw well against MSU or Bama when they couldn't run, but MSU and Bama also have good pass D.  Yet to see what LSU can manage when they can't run but pass D is weak.

LSU has a DL and a CB out for this game.  Will probably survive the DL okay, missing the CB is probably going to be felt.  3 of the top 4 safeties are also injured, though I think all are available to play.

I've watched relatively little of the Aggies this year, but this could be a good year to tag a Tiger team that struggles on offense and is dinged up on defense.

LSU beat Miami, which looks so so now, and edged Auburn, which looks so-so, lost to Florida on the road, beat Georgia and Miss State resoundingly, failed to score on somebody, and edged Arkansas.  That is a pretty mixed up result really.  They allowed 27 and 29 in two losses, which is the most scored against them.

A&M had two kind of moral losses with Clemson and Bama, beat Arky by a TD, edged Kentucky and South Carolina, lost to Miss State and Auburn and beat Ole Miss.  If syllogism worked, we'd favor LSU, who in fact is a 2.5 favorite.  I think home field advantage is misoverestimated, and thus I think LSU wins, but it will be interesting.  A&M is also not very consistent.

Cincy, you are wrong I think about the favorite in this game. Danny Sheridan has A&M a 2.5 point favorite.

Thanks for the correction, I often misread favorites when they are close.

Either way this game is shaping up to be one of the best in the recent series.

I can see each coach pulling out all the stops in order to rise in the pecking order.

I’m holding out for an A&M win 24-17.

Well I was close at the end of regulation, but boy I could have never imagined how this one turned out.

I’ve got to tell you that I always felt, probably as most fans do, that we always have to beat the refs as well as the opponent. Well, last night I think the refs finally cashed all those checks we’ve been sending them. That faux Gatorade bath int reverse was wild as was about 4 of monds tds.

I know most of you will scoff at this but we finished 2nd in the sec w and that’s real progress in jimbos 2nd year.
