UGA Spring Report (not much, as usual)
« on: April 05, 2018, 07:09:26 AM »
I don't glean too much from spring ball.  Coachspeak prevails of course.  A few nuggets perhaps:

1.  UGA likely will be a unanimous selection to win the East.  (That has happened before obviously a few times.)  They play at South Carolina and have a spotty record there and USCe appears to be getting more competitive.  A loss there could be pivotal considering the rest of the East may be struggling.

2.  Fromm is going to start at QB but they will find a way to get Justin Fields on the field, perhaps somewhat like they did with Shockley way back.

3.  The defense lost a lot of talent but has a lot of folks with PT hopefully ready to reload.

4.  The depth is not yet at Alabama levels, but one more recruiting year like the last two would help.

5.  Zamir White at running back (FR) has made good strides in recovery from his ACL injury and may be ready this fall.  The Dawgs are pretty loaded at the position but you may recall White was "special" in HS.

6.  Special teams last year improved from atrocious to pretty good and they need to stay there.  We lost the punter of course, a grad transfer who was solid.  "We" can forget how critical this can be in close games.
