Sigh....might as well have a thread about it.

I guess.

There was a time when this was must-watch TV, a CBS pick-up for sure.  This game deserves to be on the SECN-alternate, and that's sad.

Our replacement #1 WR for our suspended #1 WR will be out - high ankle sprain.  (Tyrie Cleveland - had the 99-yard TD vs LSU last year and the 63-yard game-winning TD vs Tennessee this year)

The Gators appear to have the injury big coupled with the other thing.

So, two mediocre teams to start off with, both with injuries/suspensions.  Yeah, this is gonna be super fun to watch.  Sarcasm font.

DACOACHO hopes to have DLs Lawrence and Alexander back from injury this week, though I doubt either is in game shape.  At least they'll provide some rotation hopefully so the others aren't so gassed.  Frosh DE Glen Logan played every defensive snap last week.  DE Frank Herron won't be back until the Auburn game, if then.

RB Guice is questionable and at this time I wouldn't expect him to play much if he's cleared.  Not going to be 100% for sure.  RT Weathersby also did not play last week and is questionable this week.  QB Etling was hurt in the Troy game, though he did return and is expected to play.

Seems like UF has been on their 2nd or 3rd string QB for our game nearly every year since 2011.  It's the oddest thing.  Something always happens to their starter.  Either gets injured, suspended, takes a nap and is late, or something.

Neither of these teams is any good, but there is still NFL talent all over the field, and that makes for tough sledding when trying to guess what the game might look like.

I see a huge difference in mentality.  When I watch Florida, they are a mediocre team but they are mentally tough, they expect good things to happen to them if they keep fighting and they expect to win, and they do.  It shows up in the W/L column.  When I watch LSU, they are also a mediocre team but they are mentally weak, they fold when the first bad thing happens to them.  They can't recover.  TD called back on a BS penalty on the first drive at MSU.....fold.  Fumble first snap vs. Troy.....fold.  INT vs. Syracuse.....fold.  Only reason they won is because the lead was too great for 'Cuse to overcome at that point.  You can see it in their body language on the field and on the sidelines.  Converse to Florida, they expect things to slip away from them, and it does.

Anything could happen, but I'd take Florida, for sure take them at home.  LSU has the talent to keep it close in most phases* but something will go wrong at some point and LSU won't recover.

*but probably not on the OL.  The most likely place for bad things to happen to snowball LSU into submission is the Tiger OL will almost certainly be dominated by the Gator DL.

I'm hoping this game plays out like the 4th quarter did last year in Baton Rouge.  Florida just runs the ball, cycling through RBs  who run really hard and can only go for a few plays at a time.

Florida started the year thin at LB, but is now thin at DT, LB, and DBs.  Fun stuff.

Sucks that Callaway and Cleveland are both out.

This game is usually a good barometer for what LSU will be the rest of the season.  This year it's more like a fork in the road.  Win this game and LSU may still scratch out 7 or 8 wins.  Could galvanize the team a bit and help them understand they can win.  Lose, and it's gonna get really ugly.

Geaux Tigers.

Duh.

I'll watch and learn.  I watched the UK-UF game, the second half, and was figuring UK would find a way to lose.

That mental toughness thing is surprisingly important in football.  Such a physical game I can see that losing a bit of emotional impetus drops your play by say 5% or so and you get blown out.  The other guy is also good, and even if you are more talented he can make that up with enthusiasm and energy.

My distant memory playing basketball is that the better team won almost every time (HS level).  In that sports teams can "get hot" for whatever reason and perhaps the positive mental attitude - confidence - can make the difference, versus being at the line and hoping you don't throw up a clunker.

Reminds me of Shaq.

We could use Shaq on either of our lines right now.

Maybe on D-line, and if Tebow lobs a jump pass on us again, he can just swat it, goal-tending style.

Talent wise thsee two  teams  are fairly even. Mentally they are a world apart. Florida by two touchdowns.

Why couldn't I have the choice of suspended players OR a bunch of injuries?  Why both??

At least suspended players can be 2nd or 3rd stringers at times, while injured players are usually starters.

You can lose special teams players obviously, but the odds are you lose a starter to injury.  I presume Florida could not withstand losing the second QB (who has been a starter).

Some years are just bad years, but then, winning the SEC East is perhaps a bit of a consolation prize with a rough ending anyway.

Good lord.....this is the CBS game.  This conference really, really sucks this year.

I wish we were in the old BCS system so that we could at least screw up Bama's sos so much it messes with their season.

Cool.....the BS holding call leads to a TD the very next play.  Thanks....

Also, I never want the 3:30 CBS slot....sooooo many commercials.
