Three matches tonight.
Iowa won 3-1 over Michigan in Iowa City.  Mild upset. As noted way up thread, Iowa has made strides.

Nebraska won 3-1 over Michigan State in Lincoln.   MSU had a feverish comeback in set 3 to extend the match, otherwise the defense of Nebraska was elite throughout.   MSU gets UW coming up in EL I believe on Saturday.

Minnesota won 3-2 at Wisconsin (match was on BTN).  Kind of a sluggish match, long rallies, over passes, errors.  Minnesota had serious stamina.  Wisconsin has now dropped three five set matches this season, two at the FieldHouse, all after leading 2-1.

Probably asking for another win was too much.  4-1 at this point is far more than I expected.  Hell, 2-3 was acceptable.

Ha, I had to check.
While most of their sports are in the cellar, they do have a couple of "middle of the road" appearances in the standings.
Their best sport appears to be wrastlin'
The Lacrosse team started hot. Held the #1 spot in the Nation for a clip. But their season went down the drain once Big Ten play started. Didn't even make the playoffs.

Since joining the B1G, Rutgers is now 1-65 in conference matches (beating Maryland in 2015).
In terms of sets, Rutgers is 15-195,  with I think 10 of those sets coming from Maryland.

That's pretty sad.

The worst NCAA VB team that I have ever seen at any level has got to be Wilmington.

They joined the OAC in 2001, and have only won one OAC match ever since. And that was clear back in 2008.

The gap between Wilmington and the second worst OAC team in any given year is so vast, that it tends to be a bench-clearing straight sets beat down.

Even when they have a decent player or two on their roster, it's not enough to overcome the sheer ineptitude that permeates every other aspect of their VB program.

They schedule down in the non-conference portion of the schedule with a bunch of two-year JuCos and Regional campuses that aren't even good by 2-year community college standards, and they still drop the lion's share of those games.

They suck at Football too, so I'm not sure why there were ever even added. It certainly wasn't for their TV market.

I had to go look this up.  Appears they have beaten a few opponents this year out of conference?

Wilmington?  They lost to Earlham for God's sakes, in a Quaker battle.  (My in-laws alma mater).  I just peeked at their team website.  One of the pics is of an attempted block,  and one of the MBs barely has her hands over the net.  That's not a good sign.

Re: Rutgers,  the only P5 program that might be as poor at vball right now as Rutgers would be Clemson.  UVA is also in a very low spot lately.   Collectively the three of those are likely RPI 200+ easily.   As a general matter, and this really isn't news.  The eastern part of the U.S. (I don't include Ohio or Michigan in the 'east') is very weak at volleyball.   The only schools to make a FF would be Penn St., Florida and FSU (once).

Ha, yeah. They are 1-1 against UC Clearmont, which is a 2-year branch campus of Cincinnati; a step below JuCo.
They beat Central St, which is technically a DII team, but they are an HBCU who is also pretty terrible at VB.
And they beat Berea, another DIII doormat. They scheduled several of their fellow DIII doormats, but only beat the one.
They lost to Edison, a 2-year JuCo D2 school. They lost to OU Chillocothe, a 2-year branch campus of Ohio U. They lost to Ohio Christian, who is an awful NAIA team.
They are just pathetic.
