That game was tons of fun.   As usual, baseball showing you things you've never seen in your life.  A ball off the brim of the hat saves a run.  An umpire nearly takes one in the junk on an errant pick off play and that holds a runner at 2nd.  The HR derby in extras.   Roberts gonna take some heat for yanking Hill w/o letting him at least go out in the 5th.

So the Yankees weren't supposed to compete til 2018 or 2019. They overachieved this year, beat the hottest team in the AL, were within 1 game of the World Series, but blew a 3-2 lead, and Girardi is out.

Those dumb asses don't deserve him

Wonder of there is/Was mutuality over this decision.   A couple years ago, it was believed he would leave.

I don't understand it unless Girardi wanted out

...and we miss Jansen's first pitch....wtf

Springer is a good, young player.  But against elite pitching, he's a strikeout bitch.
hah, obviously McCarthy is NOT among the elite

Precisely.

Roberts should be taking zero heat.  You have a 2-run lead when you bring Jansen in.  You take that potential win percentage, every time.  Doesn't matter how you got there, the pieces were in place for a win 90-some% of the time.

Last night showed what prevents it from being 100%.  Shrug.

and then there's the factor that the World Series is different than the reg season and that the Stro hitters are different than the NL hitters the Dodgers faced in the reg season

Kersh is all over the place.  Bellinger picked him up, though.

To think the Dodgers attempted a SAC bunt with the cleanup hitter and  a guy on 2B in this game and no outs.

a - yes, that was dumb
b - Hernandez is a cleanup hitter vs lefties only, otherwise he's an 8-hole type

Any of you old bastages want to lend me some heart meds?  This is rough.
