Hypothetical Bowl Lineups

Do this every year.  First my perfect world bowl system, followed by what the bowl games might look like if the current season played out under former seasons' rules

My plan, same as always, involves tiering the bowls off into 5 tiers of 4 games, 20 bowls.  Each tier consists of the highest ranked (based on conference standing with tiebreakers) team from each P5 conference, a GO5 champ, and the two best at large.  The top tier also doubles as the playoff, which is 4 unseeded bowls, played under traditional tie-ins, advancing to a seeded 4 team playoff.

Games also progress forward by date up the tiers

I would prefer this as the first round of the playoffs. I like maintaining the conference affiliations and it is part of what makes college different than the pros, but I would be happy with an 8 team playoff with campus sites and/or seeded games.
