Amazing MSU managed to field a top 10 national defense with nothing more than a pair of 3rd teamers, lol.

Ummmm.  OK.  While I can rail against the lack of Purdue guys for a top 4 scoring defense in the Big Ten, I get it, nobody cares about Purdue.

.....but the one guy who does get accolades is Gelen Robinson?  Don't get me wrong, I like the guy, but Ja’Whaun Bentley or Danny Ezechukwu would deserve a third team vote over Robinson any day of the week.

I thought Bachie probably should've been 1st or 2nd team- but not sure you can really argue with the guys they picked for the 1st team.

Gary and Bosa are future top 10 NFL draft picks...playing like top 10 NFL draft picks. Hurst might've had the most dominating season of any DL in the conference this year. I probably wouldn't have put Lewis at 1st team. Jewell and Edwards definitely should've been 1st team LB's. Devin Bush has a legit argument for 1st team- he was excellent pretty much all year. I'd put Bachie over him to be honest though- feel like he has less help around him and he's just as good.

How about this for helmet team preference- David Long and LaVert Hill didn't make 1st, 2nd or 3rd team in the media list. PFF rated those two in the top 5 in the entire country for passer rating against AND yards allowed per coverage snap. I watched a lot of B1G football. Those two are EXCELLENT young corners- both should've been on that list somewhere and weren't.

Yeah, I'm fine with the DL guys.  I don't get Bachie all the way down there.  I think he was DPOTW three times.  Hell, I thought he might have an outside shot at a Butkus finalist, and I'd certainly take him over Bush, who is a Butkus finalist and 1st team.

Interesting. The media, who you'd imagine would be more swayed by helmet, were kinder to MSU than the coaches. I wonder if there's an age bias as MSU seems kinda young.

In any case, the B1G is loaded on defense. Per S&P, there are five top-13 defenses, plus no. 16 in Iowa. Combine that with the fact this MSU defense seems more on the balanced side, not ideal for the standout bias of this system, and perhaps that's what you get.

grad assistants > media.

majority of those GA's played college football and know their football and will go on to be successful head coaches or position coaches in the future.

media? most of them are just talking idiots that never played any kind of sport and will never coach anything. they don't have any more or less validity to their opinions than random fans on message boards IYAM.

Wow, OSU's punter only had one punt return yard prior to THE GAME, and there are two other punters better than him.

I'd sure hate to be kicked in the groin, by those guys.

no idea, but I'll be on the look out for them. My guess is they'll probably come out on 247/CBS. I think PFF signed a deal with them.
Bet it'll look a lot different than the coaches and media 1st team.

Yeah, I don't love their national ratings, and their QB ratings frequently seem janky, but overall I think they are worth a read

Well, both Bentley and Ezechukwu received honorable mention in both coaches and media.
And don't forget Bailey. Was up there conference ranks in sacks (T-4th all positions, 2nd for LB), tackles (5th in conference in solo tackles all positions, 19th in total tackles including assisted), and TFL (T-18th all positions, T-10th for LB).
Purdue probably had their best LB corps I've ever seen since I started following the team in 1997. So yeah, I would have liked to see one of them get some recognition.
