Three two-time consensus all-American defenders (Spielman, Blades, Station), two of whom won the award for being best player at their position (Spielman, Blades).

Is the Cousineau supposed to be Tom Cousineau? He adds a fourth two-time all-American defender.

Tough call. When I picture a football player, I picture a linebacker. So I'm going with Spielman.

I remember the 1988 NFL draft when the Browns passed on Spielman and selected Cliffard Charlton. When asked why the Browns passed on Spielman, HC Marty Schottenheimer stated that Spielman was too small to play in the NFL. After 4 pro bowl appearances and 3x NFL all pro's compared to Charlton that was cut after a couple of seasons, it was a microcosm of Schottenheimer's and the Brown's ability to spot talent in the draft.

A #36 not on the list is Correll Buckhalter.  UNL fans, why wasn't he ever a feature back?  Never even had 150 carries in a season, but he played plenty.  

Buckhalter always makes me think of Dan Alexander, who just looked funny - a guy that wide running that fast.

Loved the big guy Alexander, but I thought Buckhalter should have been the starter.  Much better NFL career, not that it's means Buck was the better NCAA back.

Perhaps if Alexander doesn't fumble stretching the ball for the endzone vs the Horns in Austin in 1999...................

Alexander averaged 6.5 on 134 attempts for 8 TDs with a long of 80 yards
Buckhalter ave. 6.0 on 111 att for 6 TDs with a long run of 57 yards

My point was that the Browns are notoriously bad at evaluating talent. Spielman was just an clear cut example that I remember that highlighted that fact.

Yeah, but my point was that the Lions loved him, and they are basically the Browns equal in the talent evaluation department.

Gotcha. However, I didn't think there was any other NFL team as inept in that department as the Browns appear to be.
