So the GLI is apparently now played January 1 and 2?  And since MSU and UM suck, and both lost, they'll meet on a Tuesday afternoon in a consolation game at 2:30 when most people are at work?  I remember when the GLI was a major event.

College hockey in Michigan just thriving.

Schedule conflicts push Great Lakes Invitational to New Year's Day

It's not ideal, but the Great Lakes Invitational will be played later than normal. As a result, it will be held twice at Little Caesars Arena in 2018.
The 53rd GLI, which begins Monday, was pushed from its normal spot in the Detroit sports calendar due to scheduling issues with LCA's main attractions, the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Pistons.

As the first Ohio team to ever get a Great Lakes Invite, Bowling Green defeated WCHA rival Michigan Tech 4-1 in the Championship Game.

Notre Dame swept Michigan H-A

Ohio State swept Michigan State on the road

Penn State went 1-0-1-1 vs Wisconsin at home

Minnesota split with St Cloud on the road

Everyone has played exactly 12 Big Ten games, so we are halfway through the Big Ten season. 

Standings

Notre Dame, unbeaten and untied, leads the pack with 36 pts 

Ohio St is second with 22 pts 

Penn St is third with 20 pts 

Bringing up the rear are the Big Ten's four "Hockey schools" 

Minnesota and Wisconsin are tied for 4th with 14 pts 

Michigan is 6th with 12 pts

UW had a lot to play for today. Lost one of their best ambassadors this morning.


Jim was a Badger from 1982-86 and a part of the 1983 NCAA championship team.

MSU played not horribly, but gave up the go ahead goal in the waning minutes of tie games both nights.

Next step for Cole is finding those inches.  Still not convinced the conference is any good.  Minnesota looked bad too.

The No. 6-ranked Ohio State men's hockey team defeated No. 17 Michigan, 5-3, Saturday in Value City Arena in front of nearly 9,000 fans. The win gives the Buckeyes a sweep of both the weekend and regular season series with the Wolverines. Ohio State won 4-0 Friday night and posted 3-2 and 5-1 wins in Ann Arbor in November.
