He was holding out for better offers, and decided he'd finally "commit" rather than lose his spot. Those other offers are coming now, as I suspected they would after word got out about him, and they are closer to home.

Staff had not stopped recruiting the WR position, so that's the good news.

On Saturday, he finally got the chance.

I think much of what you read/find on the recruiting sites can be described that way.

The most reliable UW person was on Scout, and he didn't survive the transition. Jesse Temple on Land of 10 is about the best available now for UW, but he's not just on recruiting.

Penn State received 4 commitments in 4 days.  Starting Friday with Devyn Ford 4* RB from VA.  A Sunday surprise from Marquis Wilson 4* CB out of CT.  Continued the #VA2PA trend with 5* LB Brandon Smith Monday, followed shortly there after by 4* Ath Tyler Rudolph also from CT.  

Not a bad extended weekend.

MSU gets 3* ILB Luke Fulton from Youngstown.  Big get, he had just said last week that MSU, Wisconsin and Northwestern were his leaders, but that he wanted his mom to take an MSU visit this week.

Guess they sold mom.

Any Ohio kid that doesn't yet have an OSU offer yet though is iffy at best, in the event they ever come poking around.

does Urban flip as many kids committed to schools in other conferences?

or does he concentrate on taking kids from Big Ten programs?

to make sure they have to work harder and possibly get less

I really only know about the kids he's flipped from UW, but I know he's struck in Maryland too, for Haskins.

UW flips kids too, like Jonathon Taylor from Rutgers and Hornibrook from Pitt (when PC left there).

But sure seems like OSU likes to sniff out UW kids.

An MSU poster on another board pointed out how in the last week there have been not one, but two articles written about MSU recruits who are "sticking with MSU in spite of picking up an offer from School X."  First it's the QB who got an OSU offer, then an OT who subsequently picked up LSU, Florida and Michigan offers.  When was the last time you read Michigan/Notre Dame/Texas recruit (schools with less recent success) sticking with their commitment in spite of picking up offer from MSU/Wisconsin/Washington, etc...?

Note that the one OT has fallen 400 spots in the 247 rankings since committing to MSU, despite picking up those UM, LSU and Florida offers in the meantime.  While the in state OT who did commit to UM during that period, who was MSU's Plan B, has shot up the rankings above him.

That would need to start with Michigan kicking his ass. Seriously though. Had Kelly developed a QB in his time as a coach? I'm asking honestly. Seems to me he gets good talent and squanders it.

I think DeShone Kizer is pretty good.  Honestly, I think the Browns screwed up by not giving him another year.
