Has anyone else been getting this error message?  I used to get it occasionally, but it's over the past week it's happened about 1/3 of the time I've attempted to navigate from one post to another, or tried to post myself.

You don't have permission to access /index.php on this server.
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

thanks for the heads up, Sir... I'll look into it.

9/10 times it's when the page begins to load before the sessions verification has completed- which is a double edged sword because we (i) want the page to load fast as possible, but, if it's loading faster than the sessions can be verified it will kick the 403 forbidden error as if the site is under attack or something...

i was reading the other day of how others have combated this, and I'll give it a shot too following their lead.

Can you tell me what you were doing when it happened?  I thought I'd whooped this thing.

I had just added a post to A51, then hit the main page link: https://www.cfb51.com/index.php
Said I was forbidden from seeing index.php.
FYI I am going through a work connection, so who knows what sort of weird firewall / other things are put in place by IT... So I don't know if there is anything extra in the session verification that is delayed by IT.

well, what i'm discovering is two fold... one is easily taken care of (and was when the site was offline the other night) and has to do with file permissions.... if a function calls another that requests a file and if that file has a permission that isn't publicly executable it would trigger the 403... the problem wasn't with the file permissions i set, as it turns out, it was with an automated 'audit' function i'd installed that reset families of files to permissions after i'd altered them.... so i would change the permission and not look back, and when encountering the 403 again would think "well, that wasn't it" just to return and find it was....... so i spent a good several hours trying to figure out what was causing it... thought i had beaten it.

but this is more likely, at this point:  i purposely slowed the page down.  i did so because it was rendering before qualifications could be passed, and if the 'below the fold' sessions verification hadn't completed before the screen was populated, it will give a 403.  the page used to render in less than a second- around 7.7ms to be precise, recorded out of Dayton and out of L.A.... adding some scripts back to it brought it into the 1.5 range and also diminished the 403's quite a bit... i fear the same is happening now, even though the server is still offering up in the 2 second range... any slower than that for a desktop with physical connection is bad, especially for wireless devices...

i'll find it, though... and i appreciate the heads up.  i'll go sifting through the posting calls and see if any permissions have reset or if i can move the sessions verification higher in the call.

turns out it was another reversion of permissions... i just gotta figure out what mechanism is doing that.

has anyone seen any forbidden's today?  How about that annoying 'return to home' even when you know you clicked the right link?

worked out an issue today i've been digging for since the move.  i'm thinking things will be much smoother now.
