As I've told CD since before the season started, I'm still feeling good about this being an 8-4 team.

Surprises?  Auburn is much worse than most expected.  I saw them as an 8-4 type team.  Alabama and UGA are where most expected.
Missouri is arguably better than expected as is Kentucky.  Florida is about as expected I think.
I had UGA losing to South Carolina and not again.  I think most thought Orgeron would be on a very hot seat by now, not really the case.

So, how good is Georgia right now?  I was bemoaning how unimpressive they appeared, to me, up to the LSU game where it appeared to everyone.  But did they right their ship?  And if so, how much?

I think the answer is likely some, yes, but probably not enough to beat Alabama with less than a near perfect game.  The defense still looks to have issues, and some injuries are concerning like Monty Rice getting hurt during warm ups.  The offensive line is a real patchwork with injuries right now, maybe somebody is getting healthy, Kirby doesn't say much.

But they have looked better, even though the competition has not been that great, but three wins against then ranked teams is a something, two away from Athens.

If you had Auburn at 8-4 you didn't miss them much or at all. They are 7-4 now. To me that doesn't qualify for greatly under achieving. Personally I thought they were a ten win team. That is under achieving even if they win in Tuscaloosa.

They were top ten preseason, which is my point of reference.  That would suggest a 10-3 or 11-2 kind of season.  I didn't see it.  But Auburn was much worse than most expected apparently.

Everyone else was about as expected with a nudge up or down I think.  Kentucky if they finish 10-3 would be a clear nudge up.  I thought Florida might be dangerous, and they were to LSU at least, and they also could finish 10-3 which we'd have to not is a nudge up and a bit.  Tennessee?  Eh, about as expected.  Better than last year, which would be hard to replicate, but an underdog at Vandy.  When you play Vandy as a dog, it's not a good sign.

I expect next season to be rather similar to this season in terms of rankings.

Regardless of Kentucky's final game or bowl, I missed on them, bad.

Auburn did about what I thought they would do, first because Auburn + preseason expectations = disaster.  Been true for at least 15 years.  But more in the realm of actual reasoning, I really thought a lot of people were whistling past the graveyard concerning their O-line.  Not a lot of returning production there, and that's huge.

Same reason I had LSU at 8-4....O-line was just too big of a question mark.  Though I really hit on not buying the selling, so to speak, the rest of the world was doing on LSU.  I did point out LSU has not won less than 8 games in like 20 years, and projecting us 5-7 to 7-5 was a pretty good stretch for a team who hadn't hit that kind of floor in two decades.  Now they sit at 9 wins with a decent shot at more, and are going to finish 2nd or 3rd in the west, which is...not bad, I guess, for a team the media projected to finish 5th in the west, but the OL was indeed a glaring low spot, and it's amazing the team won as many games as it did with the offense it has.  Even if A&M wins and LSU is 3rd, A&M still didn't have to play Georgia and Florida.

Everybody else is roughly about what I expected.  I do pretty decent projecting seasons, but not so good at picking individual games.  Except for Alabama, which is easy.

We probably paid little attention to UK preseason and just slotted them lazily.

I usually look for a decent to good returning QB with experience and then the OL and then how much of the defense is back.  An OL with a lot of starts is huge, especially earlier in the season.  Most teams are able to find a pretty good RB or three.

Speaking of all that, the Dawgs "should" be primed for 2019.  Some think Fields is going to bolt, which is possible, but I'm seeing nice things said about Fromm's NFL potential in places.  That could be wrong, but he might tell Fields he's leaving after next season.  Field's threw two perfect long passes last week, one was muffed, one I could have caught.
