2018 Recruiting
« on: October 05, 2017, 11:16:44 PM »
Justin Fields, the top rated player in the country, is expected to choose UGA tomorrow. His choice is also expected to have a tsunami effect on the school he chooses, influencing an inordinate number of players to come with him.  He may fool us all and sign with Fla. St. or the Tide.

I am hopeful Kirby has this.

I saw the rumors he would pick UGA, but it seems strange to me.

Were I an extremely gifted QB, I'd go where I thought I could go pro in three years, which in part means having a good shot to start for at least two years.  I'd also go where there was a lot of visibility and a great team around me, so I would be at Laville for example where maybe I am THE team all by myself, but somewhere I could look good and learn but have other pieces around me, like a great OL and RBs.

Is he going to start in Year One at UGA ahead of Fromm and Eason?  Year two?

So UGA is gonna have 3 5-star QBs now?

Maybe Mettenberger should have a talk with Eason and put in a plug for us.

As crazy as it sounds, I look for Eason to get his job back at some point.  Eason just has that rare gift of a true rifle.  Fromm is great and cocky and charismatic but he can't beat a team that shuts down the UGA run like Auburn and Bama likely can.  Eason can, if he is on, with deep digs and deep outs.

I think Fromm ends up as odd man out with Fields as a redshirt.  Fields is on record saying he is ok with a redshirt

By the way, Fields was quoted in the AJC today as saying "y'all have no idea what is about to happen" with Dawg recruiting and also saying he was hoping to bring 8 guys with him.

It is getting fun in Athenstown.

Now watch Vandy or the evil Lizards burst the balloon.

Zounds.  I guess recruiting went pretty well for the Dawgs.

Good luck to Eason at UDubb.  It would not shock me if he someday is a top draft pick.
