Wow, you guys are really into volleyball.

Quick story - in one of my early years on the Navajo Rez as a teacher, we had a staff volleyball game.  It was in the gym, and everyone's warming up and stuff, and I take my shoes and socks off and play barefoot.

Everyone looked at me weird, and I realized growing up in FL that I had almost exclusively played beach volleyball my whole life - thus the no shoes thing.  I just shrugged and played barefoot the whole game without incident.

Funny what we're used to, without considering it.  Another example of this was when a group of us went out to dinner, and this guy from Indiana and I both had crab legs.  Maybe 10 minutes into getting our plates, I had eaten all my crab and the remains were in a neat stack on my plate as he was struggling with his 2nd leg.  I hadn't seen his struggling, but he looked at me like I was a magician, lol.  I helped him out the rest of the way, getting the big, full morsels out.

PSU vs UNL    0-2
PSU vs Everyone else   33-0
the most impressive stat of the season
UNL won 6 of 8 sets vs a great Lion team

In a (relative) shocker,  Maryland Head Coach Steve Aird is bolting College Park, MD for Bloomington, IN.   IU has been in the B1G basement, mostly, and recently let their coach go.   Aird, a PSU alum, as a player, then assistant at PSU, really started making big strides for Maryland (they just missed the tournament this year, his third).   Don't see this happen too often.

No doubt, Indiana and the surrounding 5 hours is a much better recruiting pool than DC area, but this is quite surprising.  IU invested heavily in a much better Vball facility, they probably had one of the worst in P5.   I heard Aird was in Canada (with family where he's from) and wasn't 'able' to reach all of his players to notify them before announcing the move to IU.

Where on the rez were you? I lived and taught in Gallup, NM for a couple years. My oldest son was born there. I spent a lot of weekends out in some gym or community center on the rez playing basketball. I about broke my ankle in the Window Rock Civic Center in one of those tournaments.

Hey Brutus, in case you haven't heard, your girlfriend (Atherton) announced she is transferring.   This is not a surprise it would seem, with Nicklin Hames coming in (highly touted).  Not clear where she's going.  This is from a release.

I really love our team, and they are an amazing group of individuals. I will miss them more than anything,” Atherton said in a news release. “I have made some of my best friends at Nebraska and I will forever be grateful for that. I also want to thank our fans for their support. Being able to experience this has been life changing, and I want to thank all the fans for everything they do for the program.

I don't know.   Vball transfers (like any other sport) are not unusual.   She clearly didn't vanish, as she was brought in to serve throughout the season and in the FF.   Hard to know if she doesn't think she will have a shot at setter, doesn't want to wait around to find out, but may very well have more certain opportunities elsewhere.    She had to have been bruised by some of the scrutiny (yes, there's scrutiny of volleyball by fans/media in Nebraska) of her performance as setter earlier this year, when she filled in for K. Hunter.    I'm pretty confident she'll be setting somewhere in the future, no?

Nebraska has zero setters now, until the Freshman arrives.  I'm guessing they may be looking for a transfer setter, as I doubt they are going to transition one of their DS'.

Her Husker career was doomed from the get go, starting with that infamous photo shoot mishap.
