Lorenzo Cain just made one of the craziest catches of the season.  Running towards center field, without diving, pulled a ball off the grass from in front of him.  Not really fully sure how to describe it.

Angels' Francisco Arcia makes history by catching, pitching, homering in same game

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Los Angeles Angels catcher Francisco Arcia began the day behind the plate, did a brief stint on the mound and ended up in the major league record books.

Arcia pitched two innings of relief and hit his sixth home run in the Angels' 21-3 loss to the Oakland Athletics on Thursday.

In doing so, Arcia became the first player to catch, pitch and homer in the same game in the modern era (since 1900), according to Elias Sports Bureau.

While the Brewers clinched a postseason spot tonight, this is gonna be a stressful weekend.  I hope the Cards don't mail it in this weekend at Wrigley, and of course the Brewers need to handle the Tigers in Milwaukee.

That 1/2 game has to move one way or another after Thursday night's Bucs/Cubs game.

I plan on going to ALDS game 1 in Houston (assuming they clinch), which is going to feel weird attending an MLB playoff game with no rooting interest.

My daughter and her choir are singing the Anthem for the Giants tomorrow night. That's pretty cool, even if the Giants sucked this season.

When I was a peanut vendor at County Stadium (years ago) we would regularly see the Anthem performers getting ready/pacing around, in the bowels of the stadium before heading out to the field.  100% of the time they looked so giddy, nervous and anxious.    Even Pat Morita,  who for some reason sang the National Anthem at a handful of parks and stadiums during this time period.

Congrats Brewers, fun game.

Kind of a fun graphic, and one that kind of shows the dichotomy versus perception and reality.  Of the 10 playoff teams, the A's and the Brewers have the lease homegrown talent, while behind the Rockies, it's the "deep pocket" Dodgers and Red Sox that have the most.  Who has signed the most free agents on their roster?  Not NY, LA or Boston, or even Chicago.  It's the A's, followed by the Braves.
