my brain tells me bama 21 to UGA 17....

the bottom of that rock said different, though... UGA 24 bama 17...

should be a good game, regardless of all the not-so-happy folks out there who feel slighted.

This is an intriguing matchup with the Master versus his Protege.  Smart certainly knows how Saban thinks.  I pick UGA in this matchup, but not for the reason stated above.  I see it this way:

"Remember, in the last BCS Championship, Auburn had that thing seemingly in hand, and then it didn’t. Last year, Alabama owned the first half, but slowly, Clemson crept back into the game.
In the Rose Bowl, Oklahoma dominated early. In the Orange, Miami looked like it was going to run Wisconsin out of the building. In the Outback, that thing was over when Michigan was given a strong lead against a mediocre South Carolina offense.
Slow and steady wins the race.
Georgia learned from the Oklahoma game.
It started out doing more reading and reacting on defense, allowing Baker Mayfield and Rodney Anderson do what they do, and then hoping to making tackles to limit the damage. That really, really didn’t work, so what did the coaching staff do to adjust? It attacked.
The pressure started coming in the second half, not letting Mayfield dance around and get comfortable, while shoving the tempo back in the Sooners’ face. Georgia finished with five sacks and nine tackles for loss, but more than that, it became the aggressor.
The Dawgs will have to rely on the run defense that’s a whole lot better and stronger than it looked in Pasadena, and it’ll have to turn Hurts into Captain Checkdown while not allowing Hurts to turn losses into gains by running out of the pocket.
Georgia cannot wait until the second half to go into attack mode and will need to do so from the start."
UGA in a close one:  UGA 31 and Bama 28
"Everyone thinks I'm the best damn coach in the country.  But he taught me everything I know.  I never beat him, but I learned a lot from playing him."  Bear Bryant on the General

I can't help but think about the last time Alabama was an underdog:
Alabama 38
Georgia 10

These are completely different squads and all, but still.  UGA is built with the Bama blueprint, but without the recurring #1 recruiting classes.  You can't out-Bama Bama.  It was foolish to pick against the Tide back in 2015 and it's foolish to pick against them now.

:88:Being the resident  Bama guy I should reflect on this game but I am really conflicted. One side of my brain says Georgia because Hurts is so limited on his passing skills. The other side of my brain says Bama shuts down Georgias running attack and bama wins. 50 50 game. Toss a coin.

Yeah, I'm going with that.

27-13 Bama.

I see this as a 27-24 type game.
Fromm is going to have to take care of the football better than Kelly Johnson did last week.

I would highly recommend the UGA players not run across the field barking at the Bama players when Bama takes the field.

27-24 is the average of the Scoring Offenses and Scoring Defenses (Bama SO-UGA SD & UGA SO-Bama SD). 26.8 Bama and 23.7 UGA to be exact.

I bet Saban could find a way to score 0.8 points....
