Auburn or Georgia Tech may make this statement moot, but Alabama and Georgia will play for the NC either Saturday week or in late January assuming or assuming a rematch. They are the two best teams and if they both get in the playoffs we will see a repeat of last year.

I don't think UGA is as good as last year, and probably not as good as Clemson, and I don't think both make the playoff.

i'm guessing there will be effort to keep the possibility of rematch off the table at pretty much all costs.  I agree UGA isn't as good as they were last year, but I also agree they are the second best team in the nation- possibly in a loop with Clemson.

and then there is this......

It is disappointing ND gets nods based on their path through the season.  there was little opposition and they faced nobody back-to-back unless you count this upcoming game and USCw... They didn't even dominate all their games.  But........ I watched the game against 'Cuse, and.... they are a LOT better than i was giving them credit for, it hurts me to say.  all this to say "they are ALSO in the loop with UGA and Clemson".  Ouch.

Michigan is good, too- maybe not Bama good (nobody is), but at least in the loop with UGA and ND.

things will shake out, they always do... the problem is in my mind that UGA, Clemson (to a degree), and UM will have to further prove themselves where ND will waltz right in so long as they beat USCw.

ND looked good versus 'Cuse, not so much against Vandy.  They may have improved, new QB and all.

Clemson is a very good team I think.  They had a close call with A&M and 'Cuse and blew out some mediocre teams.  They can score and play D.

Georgia is missing Roquan Smith more than I thought they would.  Their OL right now is a real patchwork effort with a lot of guys out and others playing hurt, and 3 freshmen would be playing were one not hurt.

If IGA somehow slides by Alabama in a close game and Michigan loses and OU loses and Wazzu loses, Bama probably defaults back into the playoff.  That is a lot of IFS.

Really, Cincy? Alabama has been an overwhelming number one the entire season. It hasn't even been close. Nobody has come within 24 points. So you think if Alabama were to lose a close game to Georgia they would fall four or more slots? if they lost their record would be no worse than the other one loss teams.

IMO for Alabama to be left out they would have to lose to Auburn or Georgia badly. Otherwise the committee would violate its own rules regarding selecting the four best teams.

This.  And it's unfair.

There is a 0% chance a 1-loss Bama is left out of the playoff.

I think a 12-1 Alabama who doesn't win the CG is left out barring something unusual.
