This team sucks,  and it's not a lack of talent.

Not sure I'm seeing a third win on this schedule.

That seems a bit reactionary and overly pessimistic.

Ok, this is no consolation, but it makes me smile so much that I have to share.

So you know how Mrs. DeTiger is a Longhorn fan, so I'm usually watching the games with her.  It's kind of hilarious when UT loses because she morphs into this other character.  She's a pretty small lady, and extremely soft-spoken with a long-suffering attitude.  One of the most empathetic and gentle people you could come across.  She doesn't speak ill of anyone, almost ever, and she's quick to admonish me or the boys if we start talking about somebody.  However, when UT is about to lose a game, stuff like this starts flying:

"I can't stand Texas-Tech."  (this is borderline cursing for her)

"I hate their stupid face.  I can't stand their fans.  They're gonna be so smug about this.  I can't deal with them."

Me:  "....do you know any Tech fans you're going to see after this?"

Her:  "No.  It's just seeing their smug, stupid faces on TV I can't stand.  They're so stupid.  I hate them."

I feel bad for her, because she takes losses pretty hard.  But watching her get what passes for a bad attitude for her is actually kind of adorable.

I don't tell her that, though.

UT did what they were supposed to do for a significant portion of the game.  They probably aren't as good as they showed against Alabama, and probably aren't as bad as when the 14 pt. lead over Tech slipped away.  The truth is likely somewhere in between, and I don't see them losing every upcoming game.

A propos of nothing; I'd give my left pinky finger to have Bijan Robinson on my team.

In 1968 we lost to Tech and switched QBs to an unknown James Street and went on a 30 game win streak

Not saying we will win the next 30 games in a row but that this is a winning football team and we will be back

Last years team would never have come back to tie the game and take it to OT

This season is far from over

New practice drill:

Line 4 WR up, two to each side. Before the play, tell one of them he's the "target". Don't tell the defense.
At the snap, the "target" is the only one running deep. Tell the QB to just loft a moon ball high and 40 yards deep.

This isn't a drill for the offense. It doesn't matter which WR you use. It's a drill to allow the defensive secondary to learn what to do in this situation. Time after time, over the last two games, this situation occurs. Three Texas defenders converge on a ball that looks like it was lazily dropped out of a blimp. This has the following outcomes: (1) a DB full on tackles the WR two seconds before the ball gets there. Obvious PI. First down. (2) The ball inexplicably avoids three pairs of (that's six individual) Texas defending hands, and lands comfortably in the mitts of the only opponent player down field.

I'm thinking it's a repetition thing. Practice is usually fast and furious. No one gains skills on what to do when you're all just standing and waiting for a pass to come down. Texas can't get it right!

Well that's like your opinion man.

Hey its not his job to blow sunshine whats the matter with you

Now you get it.

The defense is woeful and keeps making the same mistakes it has since the first game of last season, regardless of personnel.  Not really anything more I can say about that.

I feel bad for him.  On another team he'd be a legitimate Heisman candidate.  At Texas, he's just going to waste, same as so many other talented players over the past decade+.

Sam Ehlinger, D'Onta Foreman, either of them could have been Heisman winners and national championship winners at Ohio State or even OU.

If my kid were an FBS prospect, I'd tell him to go almost anywhere but Texas.  What a sad, shameful waste.

OTOH, Bijan very likely will sign a multimil contract in the not too distant future.  Heisman schmeisman.

Sure, if you really want to.  It's still a free country last I checked, you can say pretty much anything you like!
