This is a perfect landing spot for Mike Leach's team philosophy, and for the rest of us in the CFB world as well.

Leach's teams were never a threat to "win it all". They're too high risk / high reward to ever threaten the kind of perfect record needed by a non-helmet school to garner much hardware. They're just as likely to trip over a small potato as they are to knock off the kings.

But it's precisely the ability to knock off the kings that made him a hero in Lubbock. The Red Raider fans would live with a loss to a directional school so long as there was a shot at beating the Texas's or OU's. His "always be scoring" mantra made it possible.

Let him go blow up some LSU or 'bama seasons for awhile!

One of the funniest things about Leach was his scripting the whole game on a folded up sheet of paper

which he would occasionally write on as the game progressed

I used to be really curious as to just what he would add or deduct from this piece of paper
