Van Halen's "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" was originally intended as a punk parody. Ultimately it became one of their biggest songs, and it's one of my favorites by the band.
Thank you for jogging the memory.
When I got to see Poison open up for DLR on the "Skyscraper", I knew I'd look forward to a couple of his songs, but not enough to fully sustain a concert. I was expecting to be lost during most of it.
After Poison played, the first notes hit by Steve Vai (I didn't realize I was in the presence of a legend at that time) were for "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love". I can still recall the rush of excitement!
Someone recalled an incident in the Rolling Stones career where, per usual, Mick and Keith were downstairs in the hotel drinking (and other stuff) it up. Charlie, as was his wont, was happily upstairs in his room sleeping. Apparently, Mick yelled, "Where's my f**king drummer?!!", and someone went upstairs to fetch Charlie - relaying exactly Mick's words.
Charlie obligingly got up, cleaned his face, dressed in his suit, arranged his hair and went downstairs, whereupon he punched Mick in the nose and told him, "Don't ever call me your f**king drummer again! You're my f**king singer!", and went back upstairs to bed.
