Daughter was blasting this song this morning before school.

Not many rock songs feature a bagpipe solo.  Including this one-- the bagpipes are actually sampled and synthed.  But still, it sounds like a bagpipe solo, and it's awesome.

No Doubt covered this some 20 years later in an admirable effort, but the original is still better.  Crazy to think No Doubt's version was closer to the original than we are now to No Doubt's version.  I'm old.

Agree, No Doubt's version is good but the original is better.

Similarly, and since Echo & The Bunnymen are just a few posts back...

Echo & The Bunnymen covered The Doors' People Are Strange, and the cover was closer to the original, than we are now to the cover.  But in this case, I like the cover much more than the original.
