I've got a couple of the Chick Corea Elektric Band albums, but not that one. I enjoyed them pretty well, in smaller doses. It generally wasn't something I listened to for more than a few songs at a time. There was also a Chick Corea Acoustic Band album that my musician friends loved, so I bought it, but I couldn't ever get into that one for some reason.
I saw his drummer, Dave Weckl, on a recent interview talking about how wages for touring musicians haven't changed much in 40 years. He said something about how in the 1980's if you were a top guy (he is) you probably made in the neighborhood of 5k per week, and that hasn't really changed after all this time.
The comments were just brutal about that....needless to say, they had little sympathy for a someone who pulls in 5k per week now, let alone 5k per week 40 years ago. Granted, you're not on tour every week of the year, so it's not a hard extrapolation to an annual income, but guys like him stay busy. If they're not on tour, they're recording or doing clinics or NAMM shows or whatever. And they ain't doing that stuff for cheap.
