Junior Brown is a treasure.  He's not originally from Texas but he's lived and played here in Austin since the 90s.  I've seen him play probably 10 or 12 times, always a fantastic show.

He's a pretty darn good picker.  This is one of my faves for just listening to him go to town.

Yup that's on the album version, which of course I own.  It always made me mad it wasn't on the radio release or video release.  Brilliant work.

I don't have the album, but that song was just kinda always around while I was growing up.  Probably radio, maybe I saw a music video, don't remember.  Then one day when I was in college I was laying in bed almost asleep, with the radio on, and they played the full version.  The different ending jumped out at me because I knew I'd heard that song a hundred times before, but never heard that.  It jolted me fully awake, but because of the dreamy state I'd been in, it left me wondering did I really hear that, or did I dream it?

The next day I talked to one of my buddies, the main guitarist I was playing with back then, and asked him about that song, did it have a "secret" ending, and if he'd ever heard it.  He stared at me blankly for a few seconds, and then with a look and a tone that might as well have patted me on the head, scratched me behind the ears, and patronizingly cooed "Good boy!  Yes you are a good boy!" at me, he proceeded to tell me, yes, the guy's name is Nuno Bettencourt, it is the "real" ending to the song, and he is a well-known commodity amongst serious guitar players.

I don't remember if he actually shook his head at me and said "Let's don't ever tell anybody you didn't know this, okay?" as he walked away, but that's what it felt like.

I don't ever seek out that kind of music, but I like it when I hear it and I don't rush to turn it off.  Reminds me of a lot of the older musicians I grew up around in Louisiana.  This is the kind of stuff I had to learn to play when they gave me some of my first gigs.  It always seemed to draw a sort of scorn from the hard rock crowd, but imo there's quite a talent level on display with people who can do that stuff.  Chicken-pickin', as I call it, is no joke, and the guitar players I've known through the years, whether they do that stuff or not, seem united in the opinion that guys like Junior Brown are monster players whether you can bang your head to it or not.  I don't play much guitar, but those guys would know.  One thing I can say, the brush work on the snare line that makes up the main drum part on this song, which is so common in that kind of music, is also a lot harder than it sounds.  At least to do it right.  Always seemed to me that a lot of folks underestimated the chops these players actually have.
