Got through most of them.....what a fun ride!  Some good memories, and several new things, which I was hoping for.  For stuff that I didn't already know well that you and Tulip posted, it broke down like this:

Didn't know the band or the song
Y&T--Summertime Girls
Firehouse--Don't Treat Me Bad

Man we haven't even gotten into what I call the "er" hair metal bands.  Slaughter, Winger, Trixter.

Nor have we really explored one of my favorite aspects of the genre-- the Power Ballad.

I also think there's a category of "hair metal adjacent" music.

It's rock music that was contemporary in the 80s but it's not as glam as hair metal. Fairly heavy use of synth like the later glam bands, lots of guitar driven melody, but somehow it's not "pure glam."

I'm really not sure exactly how to classsify it but the bands that fit in there for me are folks like Loverboy and Honeymoon Suite and maybe Night Ranger.

I'd put Van Halen in there too.  At least some of Loverboy's stuff is similar, with the heavy synths and all.  I think you previously mentioned that VH doesn't necessarily strictly fit the hair metal label, however, both they and Loverboy comfortably fit in on any hair metal playlist.

Yeah I like the way you stated that,  you could definitely put Van Halen into that "adjacent" group.

They're sort of the proto-hair-metal band.

And even before them, there were the guys who "discovered" Van Halen, leading the way toward this new subgenre but never really belonging to it.
