Another lesser known one from a one-hit wonder, but again you might recognize it because it's been used in movies and TV shows over the years.

Now for a couple from bands who I think probably would have been much bigger if they'd come out 5 or 10 years earlier, but they made the mistake of hitting it just before grunge emerged and ended hair metal's reign.

A decade before that, though, the Red Rocker was pumping out some pre-Van Halen bangers.  "I Can't Drive 55" is probably his most famous, but this one's my favorite:

A final one for today, not exactly a hair metal band but I'd say they're definitely hair metal adjacent.  An appropriate sign-off for a Friday afternoon...

Is Zander's kid still on skins for them? I know there was a bit of a dustup over creative control when Carlos could no longer go.

Cheap Trick is one of those bands with a catalog full of rockers that everyone digs. They've had a 50 year career. Whenever the most influential bands are mentioned, everyone shrugs and sort of goes, "Oh yeah. Cheap Trick. They were kinda cool too, I guess".

Today in Cheap Trick history: 5 Mar – (1977) Cheap Trick performed at the Royal Oak Music Theater in Royal Oak, Michigan, on a bill with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and headlined by The Runaways.

I'm gonna assume you're pretty well-acquainted with the most common top tier of glam rock/hair metal, who I'd say are: Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Poison, and Guns N Roses.

Here's a trio from "the whites."  Great White, White Lion, and Whitesnake.

Dayum!  Ask and I shall receive.

Lotta good stuff you left over the weekend for me to browse/reminisce with today.

Yes, I'm familiar with most of the catalog of Bon Jovi, Poison, and GnR.  For Crue, the "Whites" and to some extent Def Leppard, we're mostly talking about stuff that would still be played on the radio.  Deep cuts from old albums, I probably don't know.  Same applies to most acts from that era.....if a song is/was a radio hit at some point, good chance I know it and am somewhat familiar with the band.  If it's just a song from an album you like which never saw the light of day on the radio, I probably don't know it.

Hopefully I have some time today to sift through these you posted.  Whether I know them already or not, most of that genre is always a good listen.

I'm trying to remember the name of the band my cousin was in.  (Actually, my dad's cousin.)  He lives in Ohio so I was never around him much, but I remember meeting him for the first time when I was a kid and family telling me he was a musician.  He was the bassist in a hair metal band, and he looked like it.  They had very moderate success, by which I mean I believe they had a label at some point, and somebody invested enough in them to put together at least one well-engineered/produced album.  But they had no songs I knew and clearly never made it "big," even though he made a living at it for a while.  Just several months ago I thought about them and looked them up on youtube, and found a few of their songs.  They definitely looked and sounded the part, but whether the songs just weren't catchy enough or something else, they were obscure enough that I still didn't know them.  The fascinating part to me was trying to place one of them as the family member I'm acquainted with.  Granted, that was 40 years ago, but holy cow, when I watched those videos, I can't see anything of the guy I know now in the bass player's face.  I couldn't even see a family resemblance in his face like I do with so many of my dad's family members (though he may favor his mother, who I did not know).  Point is, he's an old, fat, fart now, with a long grey pony tail and questionable dental hygiene, so that he looks like a yankee Ohio redneck who probably spent his years as a roadside mechanic, not somebody who used to be a pretty-boy hair metal member.  If the cocaine from the 80's doesn't getcha, Father Time will.
