Oh yeah, I know Renegade, but as I correctly surmised, I had no idea that was Styx.  Also I recognized the intro to Fooling Yourself, though I didn't recognize the rest of the song.  Not sure how that works.  Seems like that intro gets used a lot in other media, like TV shows, maybe.  Didn't know the others.

Gave those a quick listen-through, and Tommy Shaw >>> Dennis DeYoung. 

Gawddammit.  Now I have to spend time going through the catalog of a band I've avoided and decided a long time ago I didn't want to listen to. 

Oh, I liked Damn Yankees too.  Ted Nugent was the only name I strongly associated with them.  If I knew Tommy Shaw from them, I'd forgotten about it.

Listened to this album on the way to work this morning.....I forgot how truly great it actually is.

The video, like all the ones from IV, features middle Porcaro brother, Mike, on bass.  But of course, he didn't play the album, joining the band after original bassist David Hungate recorded the album as his final contribution before departing.  Actually, I'm not sure anybody's playing bass on this track.  It sounds like a Minimoog.

I loved that song.  It's been used in a lot of pop culture events, movie scenes, etc.

"So" was one of the first albums I ever bought on CD.  It's a good album, with some great tracks, but just a little too much self-indulgent prog-rock weirdness for me to consider the entire album great.  But it's always worth a listen.

Herbie Hancock did a version of that song featuring John Legend and Pink, that's worth a listen for people who like the song and are interested in another rendition.  Or if you just like Herbie Hancock or the other two.

The Peter Gabriel mention, though, reminds me that I heard Abacab this morning, and it's been on my mind.

(Yes I realize that Peter Gabriel left Genesis several years before Abacab...)

Yeah Peter Gabriel seemed to really like that stop-motion look for his music videos.  The video for the second biggest hit off that album also featured it.
