When I start talking/thinking about Jeff, I often wind up with these two songs on my mind.

The first is of course John Bonham and the second is Bernard Purdie.  Jeff always claimed he tried to rip these off and fuse them into one thing for the hit song "Rosanna."  So I consider these sort of like Rosanna's parents.  Drumming-wise, anyway.  Because he was well-known for that particular song, I sometimes wind up at these two when he comes up.

The thumbnail for that video reminds me of something I saw Bach say one time.  "People ask me, 'Sebastian, how do I get long, flowing, thick hair like that?'  And I tell them, stop cutting it."  

Not sure why I remember that, but probably because it made me snicker.

Heh, sounds about right.

I liked them fine at the time, and like I said they laid down a scorching version of I Remember You when I saw them open up for Bon Jovi.  That guitar solo was then, and remains, one of my absolute favorite of all time.  It was laid down so lyrically, brooding and nostalgic, not unnecessarily fast, perfectly suited for the song and the sentiment.
