These guys are coming to Cedar Park in a couple of months, I'm considering going.  The venue is really laid back, easy in and out, not too huge.  The perfect kind of place for a person like me, who hates people.

I've seen them a couple times.  The last time in a refurbished old Orpheum Theatre with great acoustics.

That looks sweet, I love old theaters!

I saw them a couple of times in Austin in the early-mid 1990s, great show.

There was one free outdoor festival in downtown Austin on the Auditorium Shores in the Spring of 1994, where I saw Big Head Todd, Ian Moore, and the Arc Angels, all in one evening.  FREE!

For those that don't know, Arc Angels were an Austin-based blues-rock band consisting of the remainder of SRV's Double Trouble, plus Charlie Sexton and Doyle Bramhall II. They later sort of morphed into the band called Storyville, and the sound of both is quite similar.

If you like SRV and Double Trouble, you'll most likely enjoy Arc Angels and Storyville.

My dad worked at Six Flags over Texas in Arlington for a couple of summers back when he was in college.  He was hired to walk around and play his guitar and sing songs in Spanish, in the Mexican section of the park.

There were a lot of college kids doing seasonal summer work there, and after work they'd often get together to hang out.  One night a group of them had gone out to a park on the lake where they had a campfire and I'd imagine some beers, and my dad had brought his guitar and was playing some tunes.  At one point one of my dad's friends from Six Flags, walked up with a stranger to the group and asked if this new guy could borrow my dad's guitar and sing a song or two.  My dad being the congenial guy he is, of course agreed.

The stranger introduced himself to the group as "Roger" and played several songs, including a lively tune called "Dang Me."

Less than a year later, that song was topping the charts and that unknown dude named "Roger" was collecting a grammy for best country and western song.

And now you know... the rest of the story...
