To be fair, Buddy Rich had a pretty low opinion of anything that wasn't Jazz - or specifically Buddy Rich.
Asking Porcaro to play punk would be like asking Rembrandt to paint your living room with a roller.
Much like punk encouraged loose, loud, aggressive playing, but frequently just ended up with bad musicianship, modern country music seems to require the "'Murica, luv it uhr leave it! Don't chew queers touch mah flag!" frat bro vibe. Just bash it together over some power chords to show you're angry, with a fiddle at the bridge to prove its kuntrah, and you're good.
I'm sure there's still a couple of decent offerings in the genre, but I'm not overly motivated to dig for them.
