Yeah I actually went back through the first 30 or 40 pages of this thread last week.  Noticed two things:

1) We were a lot nicer back then.  Not nearly as mean to poor lh320.
2) We all repeat a lot of the same songs.  Sometimes after only a few weeks.

I freaking love The Cult.

And I instantly recognize syncopation.  As a French Horn player, I'm intimately aware with playing upbeats.  Sometimes it's the only part you play for an entire piece.

Yeah. The problem here is that the guitarist starts the song. He's playing what sounds like a very solid 4/4 rock beat. It's very tempting for the drum and bass to simply follow along and join him on the one. Billy playing on the swung "and" of 4 gives it a hip-shaking groove and keeps it from being another tapioca rock ballad. 

In case it's not obvious, I really dig this song!
