Very nice.  I actually grilled some pork chops last night, and my i s c & a aggie wife made a lovely salad to go with it.

Now I'm thinking of 1980s HBO and Cinemax.   Cost $45/month which seemed outrageous but was worth every penny.

Yeah. My early technical projects were attempts to "improve" the reception of the myriad cable channels my parents refused to pay for (i.e.: all of them past the minimum tier). I was not doing it to see the sports.
I remember playing "Football" on the Atari 2600 (just called the "Atari" at the time). The field was a top-to-bottom series of alternating light and dark green lines. There were 3 players to a team, and they were all apparently eligible. By scale, each player would also be roughly 14 feet tall, but that's the least problem. You'd "secretly" call your play of run right, run left, pass or punt, then run it against whatever the defense called. You had limited control of the players, but could "steer" the ball like nobody's business. A good player could curve a pass around a couple defenders.
A good way to kill the evening until it was time to see if the new RF mods could tune in Cinemax when "Softly from Paris" came on.

I play drums in church. I wear jeans and a black t-shirt typically. Makes up for all the being quiet I had to do as a youth.
Turns out, old school Vision Streetwear hightops are the most comfortable drumming shoe I've found! Good support with a wiggly sole. It's also flat so I can swap out jingles or shaker accessories when playing djembe or congas.

My afluent yankee gf at the time bought me a pair of blue Nike track shoes in 1982 when I was 20.  By the time I was 30 I was wearing solid black Adidas high tops.

But before I was 20 I never wore brand name shoes.  I just wore whatever was on sale at Gulf Mart or Woolco or Sage.  We didn’t have Targets or Walmarts then.  And I grew up poor.  Momma wasn’t gonna buy me gym shoes at Dillards or Beall’s.

Most of the time, growing up, I wore these rough suede shoes with crepe soles called Chucka Boots.

My affluent yankee gf also introduced me to Hush Puppies.

She was a brand conscious little girl.

Small world.  I grilled those center cut pork steaks HEB dry rubs.  Good stuff.  Cheap, tender, tasty.

Course the staples of my wardrobe 1976 - 1980 were 28 x 34 Levi Big Bellbottom jeans and black pocket T shirts.

They were the earmarks of the “cool” kids and when I say cool, I don’t mean hip, trendy or in style.  In the ‘70s when somebody asked you if you were cool, it meant you wouldn’t’ object or freak out if they passed you a J.
