Looks like Texas could play WSU in the Sun Bowl if they want to.  Kinda hard to prep for a game at this late hour.

not sure we want to ruin our five win season with a loss

Houston starts well with a great opening drive for 7, I'm pulling for the Tigers since I have that wager with my brother, who has the Cougs

Well, Fearless, your brother won that one.  Houston pretty much controlled that game.

Taco Tech made Mike Leach's Bulldogs look pathetic.  A one-trick-pony coach like Mike Leach can only take you so far.

WVU was pretty punchless against Minnie-Soda last night.

Former OU QB Dean Blevins, who has spent his post-college days as a sports media person, says that Oregon is sandbagging, that the "31 Ducks won't play" is misleading at best.

I guess we'll see tonight.

Before that, we'll see disgruntled-and-bleeding-players-to-the-portal Iowa State against Clemson, which has lost about half its coaching staff, including both coordinators.

The SEC is 0-4 in bowl games at this point.

yes sir, after taking a commanding lead, my brother has won 3 in a row to pull within 1 at 6-5.

He has the Sooners tonight, I have the Ducks

I'm rooting for the home state Clones, but think Clemson might get them.

I thought that ISU was going to pull a game-tying rally at the end, but the bizarre fumble by Purdy after converting on 4th down ended that hope.

Tonight was an incredibly happy capper to a strange month for Sooner fans.  It was an important win.  Drake Stoops caught a TD with his dad on the sideline.  Kennedy Brooks--a great guy in addition to being a great player, with three years of 1,000-yards rushing--was offensive MVP.  Patrick Fields--who has completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in four years--was the defensive MVP.  Caleb Williams had a great game and is, I think, going to stay in Norman.

Bob Stoops has burnished his near-legendary status.  He left at the perfect time after the 2016 season, and he came back to be a stabilizing rock after Muleshoe's departure.  The players have been extremely positive about playing for him.  It has been said by some Sooner fans that Barry Switzer is the King, and Bob is the Prince.  Some local sports-media guy wrote in the last couple of days that, for younger Sooner fans who don't remember the Switzer years, Bob will be the King.  I think that's right.  And maybe not just for younger fans.

Bob's career winning % had been .7983.  Had the officials in the Oregon game of 2006 gotten it right on any 1 of 3 critical calls at the end of the game, Bob's record would be .8025.  With tonight's win, it's .7992.  Close enough to call it 80%.

I think Brent Venables will do very well as the HFC.  The Sooners will be tougher than they were under Riley, and that will be needed in the SEC.  I certainly can't foretell the future, but I think that the OU program will be fine going ahead from here.

OU has had four 100-win coaches--Bennie Owen, Bud Wilkinson, Barry Switzer, and Bob Stoops.  The Four Bs.  All of them in the CFB HOF.  Maybe Brent Venables will be the fifth one.  Sooners can hope.

Shane Beamer's USC-E Gamecocks are up on Mack Brown's UNC Tarheels 18-0 as the 1st quarter is winding down in the Duke's Mayo (formerly Queen City, Meineke Car Care, Continental Tire, and Belk) Bowl.

Josh Heupel's Tennessee Vols take on Purdue in the Music City Bowl at 2:00.

Then we get into the NY6 bowls with Pitt playing Michigan State in the Peach Bowl at 6:00.

Wrapping it up for New Year's Eve Eve, Wisconsin and Arizona State--each 8-4--play in the Las Vegas Bowl at 9:30.

Looks like Wazzu (who got stood up by Miami) is playing Central Michigan (who got left at the Arizona Bowl altar by Boise State) in the Sun Bowl tomorrow.

Might be an interesting game, with neither team having much time to prepare for the other.

Unsatisfying season for UNC.  Bad start and bad finish.  The Tarheels had a chance to challenge for the ACC, with Clemson being down.

He's been on campus 4 years and played 3, in each of which he rushed for over 1,000 yards, averaging 7 yards/carry over the course of those seasons.  He played in the bowl game when some of his teammates opted out.  He's a guy who has been a loyal player who does and says the right things.
I hate losing him, but he needs to move on.  He's not going to get better with another year of playing college ball.  Running backs have short careers.  He needs to go to the NFL and see what he can do there.
Good luck to him.
