Disappointing weekend for the Longhorn baseball team, dropping a series to the Wildcats, but if they can rebound strong against Baylor and the Sooners can come back to earth against the Horny Toads, the Horns will be right back in the mix.

Still - it's just incredible to see such bad pitching on the part of Texas.   It's been interesting to see Pierce tinker with it but nothing has really worked thus far.   Pitching looked stellar against LaLa, go shell-shocked against LSU and has been reeling ever since.  Kingham, Shugart and Henley have all looked really good - at times, as has Ridgeway.  Elder's been more consistent than O'Donnell.

I want to like Sawyer and VerPlank but they're just not there yet.  Wheelan and McGuire looked best this past weekend.

At this moment, I'm thinking Matteo Bocchi and Robinson need more opportunities.

Back when I was a kid, I hated professional baseball because, when the Texas Rangers would go into extra innings or otherwise slow down an already slow game, it would preempt "The Benny Hill Show" on KTVT. That was irritating.
Possibly the most compelling reason to hate MLB I ever heard.  Benny Hill was great.
I was probably in elementary school when I discovered Monty Python's Flying Circus on PBS on Sunday nights at 10:30 p.m.   It was so different from everything else on TV at the time (Mannix, Rod Serling's Night Gallery, the ABC Sunday Night Movie, etc.) that it had a profound influence on my sense of humor.

I too watched a ton of Flying Circus on PBS late at night.

And I'm happy to catch a game of MLB live at the various stadiums around the country.  When I used to travel for work extensively, one of the "tourist" things I did in the cities I visited was to attend a MLB game if they had a team.

So I've seen games at Wrigley, old Yankee Stadium, Fenway, New Comisky, Dodger Stadium, the Metrodome in Minneapolis, whatever the name of the Padres stadium was in San Diego, and of course Arlington and Houston (both the Astrodome and Minute Maid).

Watching a live MLB game is fun, but watching a MLB game on TV, or attempting to follow an entire season of the sport, just doesn't interest me.

I heard one of the talking heads once say that baseball may still be America's pastime, but football is America's passion.
And it's not because Football is a superior game to Baseball.  It's because Baseball burns itself out.
Everyday vs. once per week.  Somehow the net $$$ still makes the everyday option the best for baseball, despite casual rather than rabid fanship.
And if the human body could play 6 football games per week, you bet your sweet patooty they'd be doing it.  So thank goodness.

"The Benny Hill Show" had boobies, correct?  or was that my overactive imagination?

The Benny Hill Show had things like a woman in a window leaning over two melons to wave at Benny who immediately wrecked his bike.

There was precious little actual exposure on "The Benny Hill Show". Lots of underthings and garters, but little actual nudity.

You had to go to Jon Byner and "Bizarre" for that.

Back when KTVT was a completely independent "Channel 11" out of Dallas, they tended to see what they could get away with. They showed a largely unedited version of Sylvia Kristel's work "Private Lessons", which I think got them a phone call and fine.

With "precious" being the "optical" (sic) word in that sentence.

The Texas baseball team ran into a Baton Rouge buzz saw and the men's basketball team got poet payback against oSu.   Despite the weekend, I'm still thinking the former is a Super Regional contender and the latter is an NIT team.

Do they still do the NIT?  Is that a thing?  It ain't even worth googling to me.

Super Regional.  I called it on February 26th.  Booya.

I disagree with that assessment. The schedule has been daunting and they’re still trying to find pitching. Pierce is tinkering. It’s March.  It’s early.  I still think they will compete for the Big 12 host a Regional and put up a fight in a Super.
Reiterated it on March 16th.  Called hosting a Regional and putting up a fight in a Super Regional.

Good calls my friend.  Even when winning the B12 looked unlikely I enjoyed watching this team.  They're gritty and talented, and they've really come together.

This is going to be a tough Super, but that's true of them all.  It's winnable for Texas, but the Horns are going to need to score, because TennTech sure will.

I like Clemens' chances at putting up some big numbers.  Gonna be a fun weekend.

From my limited critical knowledge of beisbol, it seems Texas used a minimal amount of pitching, and accomplished their task Sunday night after playing only 3 games. Tenn Tech went 4 games, used everybody, and played a doubleheader on Monday - all on the road. I don't know how much this matters when the 3 game series starts next Saturday, but it has to only help Texas.

That said, Tenn Tech has now won 52 games this season. They ain't chicken feed.

I actually did feel sorry for the Indiana boys after standing in the Texas sun for 3.5 hours on Sunday, only to turn around and play again.
