This joint is a Harvest Host, which means we can pull our camper trailer in and stay in the parking lot, promising to spend $30 in the business.  No Problemo.

Looking forward to sampling quite a few of these in a week.

My boondocking camping trip was f'ing crazy.  The 2500 amp generator to run the 110 AC did not keep up.  We will be purchasing one to run the 30 amp AC on the camper, if we ever attempt that again.  Feels-like temps of 109, in September.  Looked at a Fb memory, my youngest had a golf tournament where it was 100+ 2 days prior, then it was FORTY-THREE with a cold misting wind 2 days later.  That's the normal swings we get here.  I'm glad I wasn't in the asphalt parking lot trying to tailgate on that 109 degree day...

Highs in the mid 70s?  We won't see that until November probably.

And you shoulda asked me about the RV A/C and a 2500W genny, definitely not enough.

I normally don't recommend Harbor Freight tools and equipment at all, other than desperate one-time use type of stuff.  But their generators are top notch.  I highly recommend this one, $800 and you can occasionally get it for $100 less than that.  Plus it's nice to have in case of power outages during storms or whatever.

We've known the generator that came with the camper from my father-in-law wasn't good enough, so that's why the wife bought one of those 110 plug-in ones that sits inside and shoots hot air out the window.  It couldn't keep up...Especially when the generator decided to run out of oil at 1 am the first night--guess I'm glad there was a shut down feature.  Who woulda thunk our first day running it that would happen?

My buddy got a 5500 for $750 on sale at HF, it's regularly a grand.  I'll be monitoring the sales....

But thanks, if the sale never comes along, good to know a 3500 would do the trick.

Oops, looks like it was 5000 watt, not 5500, but it is regular priced at a grand.  They do run great sales at HF, so I will be monitoring!

Anyway, with the forecast heat to continue, we drove the 20 miles back up to the Prairie Band Casino 20 minutes North of Topeka, and had full hookups for the next 3 nights instead of fighting keeping a generator running.  Full hookups, including a sewer drain, for $25 a night.  

We decided to go eat at the Harvest Host place we were going to stay at on night 2.  It was a very good decision to nix it.  The parking lot would have not been accommodating for my buddy's 37 foot Brinkley rig, plus the biggest f'ing Dodge pickup known to man, AND, we walked in the restaurant, and it was no doubt 90+ degrees inside.  Would have been no escape.
