would be interesting to see if the Big 12 championship at 11am opposed to nothing would gather better ratings than the Big Ten championship game (Fox) at 7pm opposed to the 7pm ACC championship game (ABC)

of course CBS with the SEC at 3pm wins
Well the B1G championship game has Michigan in it, and the B12 championship game doesn't have Texas or OU in it, so I'd expect it to be a complete ratings drubbing no matter the time slot.

A better comparison would be, how does the B1G championship game do with, say, Illinois versus Maryland, compared to the B12 championship game with Baylor and OkState?

agreed, Iowa isn't a big draw, but Michigan is

a better comparison would have been Iowa/Michigan Sate back in 2015, but the Big 12 has had a Texas or Nebraska or Oklahoma in the Champ game every season except for 98 when K-State and A&M played

98 was a weird season

Yup.  By season's end Texas might have been the best team in the B12, but the early losses in Mack Brown's first season cost us a shot at the division title.  And then the ags cockroached the poor purple kitties.

My conjecture is that, yes, it's better to have a school with a large fan base in a game than not, but the game's national relevance is more of a factor than the schools playing.

Notre Dame and Cincy are both pulling for Baylor in a close game. With 2 losses (1 bad), they're not going to impact the top 4. An oSu win could move them into the CFP. As such. this game is nationally relevant and should move the needle closer to 4million.

98 was a wonderful year. And that was a great A&M team.
A&M 1998 Big 12 Champions defeated #2 NU and #1 KSU. Seems crazy we never won another one, but in that same vein I believe 1999 was Nebraska’s last as well.

Well that was a bit surprising.  I believed it would be a close game but thought that oSu would be able to pull it out.

I don't like Baylor for some obvious reasons, but I do like droog, who is a long-suffering Baylor fan as well as being a UT fan.

So for droog and droog alone, I say, congrats to Baylor. :)

I'm a Baptist who wishes that the earth would open up and swallow Baylor.  And my oldest stepson is an oSu grad who was at the game.

However, I too offer sincere congratulations to Mr Tulip.

Ive been resisting asking this but now I really got to

why the continued hate for Baylor of something that happened years ago

the coaches have been replaced

has something else happened to generate the continued hate

Have the present folks in power there not gone at lengths to make sure it doesnt happen again.

I have no great love of Baylor but you guys are way out there and I just wonder why

talked about this last night during the Iowa game with a friend that knows one of the female lawyers that investigated Briles at the time

Had Art in a room with 3 female lawyers grilling him for 3-4 hours.

He asked where the guys where?  he Was very sure he was going to get off the hook and had some serious charisma, even while being grilled.

She thought he was a horrible human

it just takes a few years for emotions to wane

similar to Penn St.

this lawyer lady was also involved in the investigation of Paterno

she didn't like him either, thought him guilty of knowing what was going on

I feel exactly the same disgust and hatred for Penn State that I do for Baylor.  There is zero difference in those two programs.

I won't go into it because I don't want to make droog feel attacked or uncomfortable, I'll just say that no, everyone responsible for the issues at Baylor has not been fired or replaced because it went all the way up to the top including the Board of Directors.

Baylor never came clean.  Still hasn't come clean.  But the problem was bigger than Art Briles and the football program, bad as they were.  Baylor's got a noisy faction of alums who think Art Briles got a raw deal and wish that they could get him back.  I can't think of any Div I university that is affiliated with any Protestant church that even makes a decent effort to simulate carrying out a religious mission, but Baylor's affiliated with MY Protestant denomination and I wish they weren't.
To your question: "Have the present folks in power there not gone at lengths to make sure it doesn't happen again?" my answer is this: "Have they?"
I know that they fired a bunch of people.  They fired Ken Starr, for example.  But did he get fired for allowing a rape culture to go on within the football program, or for embarrassing the school by allowing the situation to come out in the open?
