And it's not just the football team rapes and coverups.  It was the basketball team's murder and coverup.  It was the baseball team's rampant misconduct.  All of this went on for decades, was known by the administration, and if it weren't for the egregious nature of the systemic rape culture in the football program, that simply became too big to cover up, it would still be occurring.

And, as C-Dubb said, there is a non-minimal portion of that fan base that still believes the rape culture and coverups were overblown and that Baylor got a raw deal, just as there is a portion of the Pedo State fan base that thinks the same.  I interact with some regularly, and as long as there are people out there that refuse to accept that their school's win-at-all-costs culture is evil and should be ripped out at the roots, then I won't be able to feel anything but loathing for those programs.

My conjecture is that, yes, it's better to have a school with a large fan base in a game than not, but the game's national relevance is more of a factor than the schools playing.

Notre Dame and Cincy are both pulling for Baylor in a close game. With 2 losses (1 bad), they're not going to impact the top 4. An oSu win could move them into the CFP. As such. this game is nationally relevant and should move the needle closer to 4million.
Missed it by... that much. :)

This basically describes my engineering skills.

I absolutely had the theory correct, and saw what the trend was going to be and what would happen. Completely tanked the math!

It just sucks, because it doesn't really represent reality, but I don't think they understand how forgotten they're going to be without Texas and OU. Texas absolutely blew chunks this season (really?), but teams still got rewarded for beating them. Baylor and oSu got national cred for beating OU.

Nobody in the next iteration of the Big 12 is going to move the national needle. They'll still play fun, exciting ball, but they'll do it on Friday nights (see "Championship, Pac-12").

Well they won't be any worse off than the PAC, and they'll still be better off than the ACC.

Remember how we've been saying for the past several years, "Well, the ACC is total crap, aside from Clemson." ?

Well now, we'll all be saying the same thing, but without the qualification.  The ACC has been the worst conference in football for a over a decade and that's even WITH Clemson's outstanding run.  Now, they're basically the Big East, but I'm not sure their basketball is even good enough to redeem them.

Newsflash:  A lot of people, myself included, watched the Big 12 ccg because it WAS NOT OU or Texas. OU winning the Big 12, again?  YAWN.  At least with oSu I can root for somebody.

What were the ratings for the Big 12 CCG for the last few years compared to this one?  I’d be curious if they were better, same, or worse.

That's fair.  I didn't watch the SEC CCG because I'm tired of Alabama too.

But I'm sure you understand that you and I are in the minority.  All things being equal, more people are going to tune in for Alabama or OU or Texas, that's just the way it is.

I watched whatever bit of UGA/Bama I could catch. I didn't reroute my Saturday chores for it, but it was a good game and I had it on.

We're passionate cfb fans, but really, most of the ratings are driven by people with casual interest. Anyone who was up and watching sports at 11am CST was watching the Baylor/oSu game because it was more interesting than Kent State/WKU or whatever. There just wasn't anything to choose from.

It was also a good game and worth a look if you were a ND or Cincy fan or sympathizer. oSu winning would have an effect on their CFP odds. This one game this one time had a lot going for it. It doesn't mean anything about the Big 12 or the two teams involved outside of the one-time circumstance.

Oh I realize we're not the norm, but I'd still like to see how the ratings compare.
