Biggest upset was Georgetown losing by one goal to Delaware.

The Ivy League all held serve except for Harvard and Brown.

Maryland and Rutgers advance, along with Virginia from the Acc as the two time defending NC.

The Terps horse whipped 2xNC Virginia 18-9. They will play Princeton in the semifinals.

Rutgers edged Penn by 2 goals. They draw Cornell, who knocked off Ohio State.

So it could be an All-Big Ten NCG, an All-Ivy League NCG, or a Big Ten vs Ivy NCG. It could also of course be an All-New Jersey NCG, but probably won't be because of the Terps.

W Lacrosse

In the Quarterfinals:
  • Maryland blasted Florida 18-5
  • BC defeated Loyola MD 20-13
  • Northwestern roughed up Syracuse 15-4
  • UNC edged Stony Brook 8-5

In the Semifinals Maryland plays BC, while Northwestern plays UNC.

So it could be an all ACC Final, an all Big Ten final, or one of each.

Maryland and Northwestern each lost by one goal, setting up the All-Acc NCG. :banghead:

Lacrosse NCG

It will be Maryland vs Cornell, who has already knocked Ohio St and Rutgers out of the Tournament.

W Lacrosse

UCLA and USC don't bring much to the table as far as Northeastern sports such as Ice Hockey, Field Hockey and Lacrosse are concerned, but they do have one WLax program between them with USC. That elevates the number of participants to eight. Northwestern is the only other team that's not in the Eastern Time Zone, so that will be interesting.

The Pac 12 will maintain their auto bid by extending a lifeline to SDSU and UC Davis, which probably saves those two programs after Fresno and St Mary's (CA) recently dropped the sport.

USC and UCLA do bring a few west coast sports a little bit closer to Big Ten sponsorship. They both have a Beach Volleyball team, which triples the number of participating teams with Nebraska as the lone participant prior to their inclusion. They also provide a pair of Men's Volleyball programs, which doubles the number as OSU and PSU already have teams. They also have both men's and women's water polo. Michigan and Indiana have men's water polo iirc, so that number is doubled. Pretty sure those are the first two women's water polo programs though.

The rest of their sports are already Big Ten sponsored.

Iowa WBB.
Ava Jones her brother, her dad, and her mom were struck by a car while walking on a sidewalk by a drugged driver in Louisville, KY on July 5. Ava is a 6'2" Iowa basketball recruit from Nickerson, KS. The family was in Louisville attending Ava's club basketball games.
Her dad died from his injuries two days later. The latest information I have was that Ava Jones and her mother are in a medically induced coma. Her brother was released from the hospital.
Ava Jones was ranked by ESPNW as the 83rd best player in the nation in the 2023 class.

The OSU-Michigan all-sports series starts off with the dreaded scoreless tie.

Had to go with the IG because OSU W Soccer apparently had their twitter account suspended for violating the terms and services. Hard to imagine what a women's soccer team could have possibly posted that didn't quite jive with the thought police, but that's kind of funny.

Somehow MSU's womens soccer coach was allowed to retire following 30 years and 4 NCAA tournament appearances.  I wish I had that kid of job security.

They hired Grand Valley State's coach, who has done very well at the D2 level

Hosler, who concluded his seventh season as head coach of the Grand Valley State women's soccer team this spring, posted the highest winning percentage of any coach in Laker history, led GVSU to three NCAA Championships, five NCAA title game appearances and reached at least the Elite Eight in six seasons (there was no Division II NCAA Tournament in 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). He leaves GVSU with an overall record of 144-12-6, the best winning percentage in all of NCAA Soccer during that span, and a 63-2-2 mark in GLIAC play.
16 months after his hiring, he took over a program that I believe went winless in the conference play only COVID season, and has them 7-0-1 in the Big Ten, and ranked #15 in the nation.  They play Northwestern on Sunday, and the winner likely wins the Big Ten championship, and the #1 seed in the conference tourney.
