And Bruce Arians isn't the plug that has been suggested. Was reading up on him and the QBs who've played under him all respected him - as he apparently hasn't made things easy on them either. He was "Coach of the Year" 8 yrs back when Chuck Pagano was sidelined with cancer in Indy - then left for the AZ HC job.He got to the playoffs there with 11-5,13-3 in '14-'15 losing to the Panthers both times once in the NFC CG.The guy can coach

Always thought Arians was the coach who you'll win games w/ and your QB will break down. To his credit he's toned down the 7 step dropbacks w/ Brady.

Yeah, they had to break up him and Ben, because they both loved those deep dropbacks, and Ben probably would have been out of the league about 5 years earlier if he kept getting hit like he was.  But it was really successful in the short term.

Well if Baker is the Browns QB of the future, I do think they can win w/ him, its just at the right price. He seems like a mid-tier QB who could possibly break into the top 10 1-2 times over the next decade.

Say the browns offer him 4/80M or 5/100M w/ 50M guaranteed as an extension. Quietly mention if he doesn't take it they'll take steps to solidify the position after his contract expires. The offense is stacked, arguably the best supporting cast outside of KC, any QB would love to play for it and it could stay stacked if you don't break the bank on a QB. Baker improved a lot this year, but his teammates made him a lot better.

You have draft/FA that could possibly have Carr, Stafford, Ryan, Darnold, Jordan Love (maybe a No.2 to GB, Rodgers probably got a few years left, and he might be ready by '22), 1-2 1st round QBs falling to them (Lance), Meathead (maybe serviceable if you get him really really cheap, but prob not), Rivers? (if Indy drafts a guy) etc.

I think the Browns are in the rare position where they have some leverage on a QB. After all say he's a FA this year. If you offered Baker 4/80M this year and dared a team to match it, who would? Just because he might as good and/or slightly better as Kirk Cousins doesn't mean you have to pay him like Cousins.

Oddly enough, Baker seems to have that sort of really personable demeanor that shows well on camera for endorsements. Those insurance commercials are really funny.

If he's playing the long game, he might see how some players (Brady, Brees) have become respected for getting good contracts, but not being in the "make me the highest paid player in the league at my position" pissing match, leaving a lot more salary cap available for their GMs to build winning organizations around them.

Seems like it could be win-win. Baker looks humble and like a team player, the team gets to actually spend cap on his supporting cast, and he'll make it up on the back end with endorsements which is only bolstered by seeming even more likable as a "team" guy rather than a "pay me" guy.

Baker - Humble?:D well he's trying his best,I do like him, reminds me a little of Favre - high risk/reward.The only head scratcher(for the Browns) yesterday going away from the best tandum of RBs in the 1st half.Chubb had a few uncharacteristic drops but he came around later,Hunt should have been implimented much earlier.Chubb avg over 5 YPC and Hunt just under 6.Couple of LSU DBs have been no-shows Greedy Williams suposedly nerve damage and Grant Delpit torn achilles who won the Thorpe Award in 2019.Browns will load up on teh Defensive side of the ball in the off season

Yes...but it just takes one.  I don't imagine Minnesota was bidding against anyone other than themselves in paying Cousins.

For that contract absolutely - it's just getting too far out of hand.Look what happened to Baltimore after they beat the 49ers 7 yrs back.Emptied the vaults for Flacco and lost how many studs around him

I'm sure Cousins' agent caused the Vikings to believe there was a bidding war.

Cousins did have a good year for the Vikes

too bad it happened the first season Zimmer had enough injuries on defense to cause that side of the ball to SUCK!

Where does Championship Sunday rank amongst your favorite days for sports?  It’s up there for me.  It isn’t the first two days of March Madness but it might be second.  Second used to be January 1 bowl games but that isn’t quite the same anymore.  Championship Sunday is above Super Bowl Sunday, though.  At least for me.
