well the Bengals did have the #1 pick in the 2020 draft, and they earned it by being the worst team in the NFL in 2019.

That #1 pick is real good. But he blew up his knee because the stupid Bengals dropped him back for 5 & 7 step drops literally more than any other QB in the league. The #1 drop back QB now that Burrow is out? A 43 year old Tom Brady.  Yikes. Bucs have the hapless Falcons twice and the sorry Detroit Lions to finish the season. I think I could start at QB and get 3 wins vs that.

Hes solid.  If you pay for a solid QB, you are screwed.  How many non rookie contract QBs have won a Super Bowl in recent memory?  Brady.  Brees a decade ago.  A washed up Peyton Manning.  He's not those guys.

Thats the one thing I wish the NFL would fix.  You almost can't win now without a rookie scale QB.  The position is too important, and the salary reflects that, but it means you can't put any team around him.
yup, easy fix.  You have salary cap and then inside that cap you can only pay any one player so much.
QBs don't need THAT much money

they can get along just being normal filthy millionaires

I need this explained to me.  With roughly 13 minutes left to play the Browns were down 34-20, scored at TD, and went for 2.  Then, with 1 minute to play they score a TD to cut it to 42-41 and kick the XP tie the game.  Why go for 2 in one instance and not the other?

So I guess a lot of that decision depends on the amount of time left. If it’s mid 2nd quarter they aren’t going for 2 I wouldn’t think.
