The Browns obviously haven't missed OBJ.Between Landry,Higgins,DPJ many media types say OBJ was in Mayfield's ear alot - like he was the OC.Baker free to sling it where he feels w/o flak from the diva - or so it has been suggested

HE never learned how to run routes in Ann Arbor...it appears he has
Which is a huge indictment on Harbaugh and his coaches. Michigan literally didn’t have a WR’s coach on staff DPJ’s first year at Michigan. They were having grad assistants and “analysts” help with the WRs.

Compare that to Lloyd Carr’s tenure when he had maybe the best WRs coach Michigan ever had in Erik Campbell aka Soup as his players called him. Campbell coached WRs for 12 years at Michigan and produced 1,000 yard WR pretty much every single season and sent lots of guys to the pros. He would’ve worked wonders to help a guy like DPJ who was an incredible athlete but didn’t know how to really play the position coming out of HS.

NFC Least beats both division leading Steelers and Seahawks.

On another note I never liked the argument that if a division winner is bad enough (7-9) they shouldn’t get their home game. It’ll only happens about once every ten years (across 6 divisions) that a division winner is under .500. And last time it happened (NFC West - 2010) the 7-9 Seahawks stuck it to the Saints.

That was the famous one because of Beast Mode, the Panthers did it a few years later, and also won.  Granted they played a Cardinals team that had lost Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton, and was down to 3rd string QB Ryan Lindley in the Wildcard game.

I think Arizona set the record for fewest yards in a playoff game.

I'd love to see the 2004 offense with not Terry Malone as OC

If the Playoffs started this weekend the AFC seeds would be:

  • 11-1 Pittsburgh (beats KC based on conference record)
  • 11-1 KC
  • 9-3 Buffalo
  • 8-4 Tennessee
  • 9-3 Cleveland
  • 8-4 Miami
  • 8-4 Indianapolis
  • 7-5 Vegas - first team out
  • 7-5 Baltimore - next team out
  • 6-6 New England - third team out

So Pittsburgh would get a bye and the wildcard weekend match-ups would be:
  • 8-4 Indianapolis at 11-1 KC
  • 8-4 Miami at 9-3 Buffalo
  • 9-3 Cleveland at 8-4 Tennessee

As a Browns "fan" I have no illusions about this team winning the Super Bowl, but I am encouraged that the Browns are in the #1 wildcard spot.  As I see it, the bottom wildcard (currently Indy) will have basically zero chance against the second best Division Champion (currently KC) and the middle wildcard (currently Miami) will be a longshot against the #3 Division Champion (currently Buffalo) but the top wildcard (currently Cleveland) should have a pretty good chance against the worst Division Champion (currently Tennessee).  It would be good for the Browns to win a playoff game and thus to get two games worth of playoff experience rather than just one.

Does Kirk Cousins suck or not? Sometimes I think he does. Sometimes I think oh he’s actually quite good.

There isn’t a bigger enigma at QB in the entire league.

Does Kirk Cousins suck or not?

he sucks when he doesn't get protection in the pocket, or when he plays from behind or in a big game (pressure)

when he has a clean pocket and little pressure to win or playing with the lead, he's actually very good

I think the league has figured that Ben has about 75% of Drew Brees arm strength.

he's middle of the pack, you can win w/ that but you have to be really really good everywhere else

I think they figured out they have no running game, and his receivers stopped being able to catch.  They were playing fire for weeks, even while winning

He doesn't suck.

Hes solid.  If you pay for a solid QB, you are screwed.  How many non rookie contract QBs have won a Super Bowl in recent memory?  Brady.  Brees a decade ago.  A washed up Peyton Manning.  He's not those guys.

Thats the one thing I wish the NFL would fix.  You almost can't win now without a rookie scale QB.  The position is too important, and the salary reflects that, but it means you can't put any team around him.
