McMurphy is clearly out to nail Zach.

Part of me thinks it might be because he doesn’t like Zach and he geniuinley believes Zach is a wife beater.

McMurphy should be above this kind of stuff. He’s been an excellent reporter and has broken some really big stories in cfb ovdr the years that’s why this gossip crusade against ZS is so surprising to me.

I don't think it happened either. Regardless,
Ya well you shouldn't be able to scream fire in a crowded theater just to get a reaction.Call the guy an asshole and be done with it.But to try to paint him up as a racist because an anonymous source on social media said so - that's yellow journalism.Beginning to wonder if either Smith or McMurphy will ever work for a legit employer again

Well McMurphy is working.
Zach Smith? His twitter rants have basically ensured he’ll never coach again.

This is kind of awesome.  It's implied that Urban had Trevon Grimes' mom make up a cancer diagnosis to protect Zach Smith from calling Grimes the n-word during practice.

i think we (as cfb fans/society) should listen to grimes' mother. she has some remarkably valid points and we should be respecting her privacy more so than trying to throw more dirt on zs/urban. mcmurphy didn't come out squeaky clean in the urban fiasco, and this is making him look like trash, imo.

grimes' mother's response:

Quote
“I understand there is great interest in college football and the personalities involved. But that does not give anyone the right to invade the privacy and personal health information of mothers whose sons happen to play college football. The NCAA cleared TreVon for eligibility based on their rules after I provided the required documentation about my illness. My oncologist has attested to it. For anyone to accuse me of making up an illness for any reason is vile and hurtful. Coach Urban Meyer has been a good friend to both me and TreVon during this entire process, and to accuse him of misconduct in this case is unfair as well. He tried to help any way he could, including referring me to doctors at Ohio State he thought could help.
Quote
“If my ex-husband is the person spreading these rumors, everyone should know that neither I nor TreVon have any contact with him whatsoever. He knows nothing about my health and nothing about TreVon’s transfer to UF. He is an abuser and the worst kind of role model, and he is no longer in TreVon’s life.
Quote
“I know that stories about college football coaches and players will continue to be news, but I ask that my health be kept out of it. I did not ask to be in the spotlight, and I am angry that someone has tried to put me there.”

It's a bad look. And more unnecessary controversy for Urban and the school. Brought on entirely by Zach Smith and his drunken twitter meltdowns.
I'm surprised that OSU hasn't made some kind of settlement with the guy and paid him handsomely to stay off of twitter and out of the public spotlight. It'd be worth shelling over $1 million just to make the guy shut up for good.
it might cost less to just shut him up for good

I didn't read it that way....  I read it as implying a meeting occurred and a plan was put in place to allow both parties to walk away and say no more.    That is how it reads to me.

people will conclude what they want/believe....   my conclusion is everyone involved has dirt on them.

Good Post RTF
fwiw, it doesn't just apply to this situation, but this one does bring it out in the worst possible and most public way. but i'm guilty of being too nosy when/why a kid is transferring and what potential ailments his family might or might not be facing. and, as a fan, i have 0 reason or right to know such info. i'm sure some might abuse the system, but it is not for me to know or decide if they are. the ncaa is far from above reproach, but this is something they and the schools should be handling with as little public info released as possible.

Why is this a thing anyone cares about?
because most folks don't care for Urban
almost no one cares for Zach
and those folks want to see the carnage

I would have agreed with that years ago...  but the NCAA is such a fraud (imo) that even if this was presented to them and they had the facts... they'd do nothing to disrupt the status quo.   I'm not suggesting medical records should be shared or illnesses challenged.  That is dangerous and scary, imo.   But I don't think the NCAA would handle.   Guess that means keep it behind closed doors and continue the with the games.

i'm not so sure. it seems most of the ncaa problems stem from legal/political/social grey areas, like paying players, eligibility, etc. there's often not a right answer that everyone agrees with.
but i don't think this is an area where i've ever heard of them mucking it up terribly. i believe all but the most heinous people can make a good decision about players transferring for medical family issues.
