Those were the Big West's glory days too.

Things went screaming downhill for them after 1990.

How did the Mac avoid 1AA classification?
How does it still?

NDST's best win ever was vs an 8-5 Iowa in 2016.

My most ideal season structure is most definitely NOT a 24-team playoff.

What the fuck is wrong with the Big Ten?  24-team playoff.  Adding west-coast schools.  It's like some sort of demented payback for making them lose their beloved Rose Bowl tie-in.

We'll have to stop watching...for a long while... and many others also. I'm in if you can pull it off but the rest might be like herding cats

We oldsters pine for the ... old days, when the MNC was determined by a bunch of guys in plaid suits and getting to a major bowl meant you had a really good year unless you were ND.  Freshmen couldn't play for the "varsity"  team.  You had one or two games on TV each Saturday, otherwise you listened to Larry Munson on the radio.  The Sunday paper would have two sports sections with massive coverage.

Well the bar is a lot lower now. They've promoted like 50 sub-Mac teams up to FBS since then.
