You Can UCLA Anything: Week 8 Thread
« on: October 24, 2026, 06:45:06 AM »
I survived perhaps the worst played high school football game I've ever seen last night. I'm pretty sure the teams set a combined record for penalties and turnovers. There were two safeties, a defensive touchdown, and a blocked punt for a touchdown. But by God Westerville North emerged victorious, 16-13, and sit at 5-5 as the season ends. Plus my daughter's band finally performed their full band show, so that was fun. Also it was cold.

I have to make a field trip this afternoon to visit the girls' old taekwondo instructor. He's having some Korean fest and wants them to come. It supposedly last from 1-6, but I'm hoping it is fine to leave after the first round of game. I guess we'll find out.

Schedule

  • Noon, #6 Indiana at Michigan, FOX
  • Noon, Rutgers at #24 Northwestern, Peacock
  • 3 pm, Oregon at Illinois, BTN
  • 3:30, MSU at #9 UCLA, CBS
  • 3:30, #15 Iowa at Minnesota, FS1
  • 7:30, #16 USC at Wisconsin, NBC
Others
  • Noon, Pitt at #1 Miami, ESPN
  • Noon, #18 LSU at Auburn, ABC
  • 3:30, #11 Tennessee at South Carolina, ESPN
  • 3:30, TAMU at #13 Alabama, ABC
  • 7:30, #7 Ole Miss at #19 Texas, ABC
  • 10:15, #14 Houston at #10 Utah, ESPN

I have no fear (Fearless) that the Huskers will lose in the last minute or so today.
So, I'm golfing.  Should be about 67 degrees when I tee off at noon, about 62 when finishing about 4pm, slight chance of a shower

might be some Cyclones out there since they kick at 6:30 vs #25 Zona.  The Hawkeyes need to be making the turn by noon to catch their kick vs the Gophers at 2:30

I'll watch the Badgers and the Horns later

I would have reserved tickets to see a game like that. It may have have been the worst played but had to be a BLAST to watch. Back-n-Forth,crazy scores, advance then back peddle, no one mailing it in, outcome was always in question, coaches loosing their sh!t, fans on the edge of their seats! Game film of this should be mandatory viewing to every player in the LEAGUE to show them what passion for the sport is all about

It was like watching Iowa play Iowa. Almost like having the ball was worse than not having it

No boating this weekend due to hazardous conditions.

I have to install a new sound system outside as the salt air killed mine after 6 years. Oh well. Lots of Bluetooth pairing in my near future. Went with Samsung yet again.

I broke the sunglass holder in my wife's Benz, so I'll fix that if I can.

Need to mount some bug zappers outside the lanai doors.

Need to take down a shade on the lanai as we now have hurricane screens. I'll donate it.

Need to hang a new American Flag up front. That's gonna be job #1 today.

That sounds like how today's game could very well go.

Conditions are expecting to deteriorate here in MSP as the game goes on, with warm sunshine in the morning transitioning to rain likely at the end of the afternoon.

Heading down to campus soon.

Not much of note around here except really nice fall weather.  I sense USCe may upset Tenn and Texas may upend OM.

My predictions of course are .... not worth spit this year.

I once went to high school game where the home team's defense not only gave up a TD on every drive in the 1H,  but gave up a TD on the FIRST play of every drive in the 1H.  We left at haltime.
We are all equal but some are more equal than others.

I will probably catch a few early games but then head back out to the ballpark for Game 2.  Tailgate in my future.

Stunning how secondary market prices have held up for these first two games.

Same-same here a week of mid 60s - 70 & sun getting seemingly lower and dipping into the 30s overnite tho. It'll be sometime in April before the sun sets at 7pm or later in these parts
