I was wrong. I was under the assumption things would go as they've always gone.

Adjectives on reports of this:
shady
unprecedented
niche ruling

The US never even appealed..because you can't.
Maybe we're a proper soccer nation now?

Things did go the way they've always gone.  You just don't know enough about soccer to understand that this is nothing new or unique.

It's hardly unprcedented, FIFA suspended Ronaldo's three-game ban before this tournament even started, he only served one game of it before World Cup play.  FIFA wanted him in the tournament and so they suspended the remaining two games.

Shady?  Everything with FIFA is shady.  The refereeing in that game was shady AF and biased heavily against the USA which is why they booked him with a red card in the first place.

None of this is any different than a thousand other decisions FIFA makes on an annual basis.

However, I do admit that I'm surprised they made the decision to suspend the ban, I was skeptical they would make any changes.  I stated before that even if they reviewed it I didn't believe they'd change it.  I'm delighted they corrected the problem and made the right decision though.

Got dang Haaland what a soccer player
He looks familiar to me and it took me a long while to figure it out.
He reminds me of the character Theokoles from the Spartacus show.  The Shadow of Death (for Brazil)!

Yeah he's an absolute beast.  And he was having the time of his life out there, it was infectious.

That was quite a match.  Gutsy result by England being a man down.

Is this how it is in all soccer games?  Have the fans not learned to wait to be excited until they KNOW it's a goal?!?  They go ape shit and like 60% of the time, it's offsides.
American football fans have learned to assume a kickoff return TD is probably getting called back thanks to a penalty, but NONE of these soccer fans wait for conformation.
Food me once, shame on you, fool me all the other times....strike three!
