Ugh. Noon on ESecPN.

Well, we'll get to find out who gets to be Big Red for another year, I guess. Not much intrigue here, other than UW trying to get eligible for a bowl game. Need those practices for sure, as the roster needs to change for next season.

Nebraska completes its 2022 home season on Saturday when the Huskers square off against Big Ten
West opponent Wisconsin at Memorial Stadium. The matchup is set to kick off shortly after 11 a.m. CT,
with ESPN providing the television coverage.
Saturday will also mark Senior Day activities at Memorial Stadium. Nebraska will be looking for its first
win against the Badgers since a victory at Memorial Stadium in 2012. Wisconsin has won the past eight
meetings since that game including a seven-point victory last year in Madison.
The Huskers stand at 3-7 overall and 2-5 in Big Ten Conference play following a 34-3 loss at No. 3
Michigan on Saturday afternoon. The Nebraska defense held its own for much of the game against the
Wolverines, limiting Michigan to 17 points until the final minute of the third quarter before the Wolverines
put the game away with points on their final three drives.
Wisconsin comes to Lincoln with a 5-5 overall record and a 3-4 mark in Big Ten Conference play. The
Badgers are coming off a 24-10 loss at Iowa on Saturday. Despite the loss, Wisconsin's defense dominated
the contest, limiting the Hawkeyes to just 146 total yards and 52 rushing yards.
Like Nebraska, Wisconsin is being led by an interim head coach as former Badger All-American Jim
Leonhard took over the program in mid-October. He has guided Wisconsin to three wins in five Big Ten
Conference games. Wisconsin relies on a stout defense that is allowing 307.8 yards per game and just
over 100 rushing yards per contest. On offense, the Badgers again have a strong run game, averaging
170.1 yards per contest on the ground.

SERIES HISTORY: NEBRASKA VS. WISCONSIN
Saturday's meeting between Nebraska and Wisconsin will be the 16th all-time between the two
schools, and the 11th as members of the Big Ten Conference. Wisconsin has won eight straight in
the series and dominated since joining the Big Ten, winning nine of 10 matchups with the Huskers.
• Nebraska played its first-ever conference game as a member of the Big Ten at Camp Randall
Stadium on Oct. 1, 2011.
• The schools met twice in 2012, with Nebraska posting its most recent victory over the Badgers in
Lincoln. Wisconsin won the rematch in the 2012 Big Ten Championship game in Indianapolis later
that season.
• This season's matchup marks just the third time in 16 meetings that neither team has been ranked.
Nebraska was ranked in eight straight meetings spanning from 1965 to 2014. Wisconsin has been
ranked in seven of the matchups, including five straight prior to this season.
• The schools met five times before Nebraska joined the Big Ten, including four games between
1965 and 1974.

My best approximation is that Wisconsin is thoroughly mediocre. Strong defense, inconsistent (at best) offense. Nebraska seems pretty similar. They have surprisingly few common opponents so far for teams in the same division, but even those results aren't especially revealing. Wisconsin probably has the better defense, and their offenses feel about equally bad. I think Wisconsin feels a little closer to decent than Nebraska, if more on the basis of habit than anything else. So I'm seeing Wisconsin reaching bowl eligibility on this one, setting up a rare matchup with Minnesota in which the only thing on the line is pride between two thoroughly mediocre teams.

Some upper levels programs appear to have recovered faster than perhaps expected, LSU and USC and Tennessee come to mind, and a few went the other way.  Wisconsin doesn't seem to be quite that far down.  To me.

Notre Dame and FSU are both ranked at 7-3.

Brian Kelly is a great coach. Lousy recruiter. He won't have that problem at LSU where he won't have to leave his back yard to find studs. ND recruiting actually has gone up another level with Freeman at the helm, who seems to be an ace recruiter but not quite the X's and O's game day guy Kelly is.

To the surprise of no one, the Nebraska football team is opening this week as a heavy underdog to Wisconsin. While that might not be a shock by any means, the degree to which they are the dogs for a home game is another reason to give people a bit of pause.

According to FanDuel, the Huskers have opened up the week as 12.5-point underdogs to the Badgers. The game is being played in Memorial Stadium. On Senior Day. If it were being played in Madison, it’s safe to assume Wiscy might be looking at a 20+ line.

is this one a must win if Leonhard wants to remove that interim tag and become the permanent HC?
