Ugh. Really terrible. I still think UW has at least a 40-60 chance to win, but that does suck pretty bad for both the kid and the team.
The back-up: What's his size?

I didn't get to see any of this game, and I'm only now just reading up a bit. Was Jack Coan the only QB who played for UW? Looking at his stat line and seeing 2 lost fumbles and 2 picks made me think someone else should have gotten snaps.

I'm having a tough time seeing another win for this team right now. Even for the AXE.

Next up would be a true freshman or a former (?) walk-on.
Perhaps the question should come up, we thought Coan might be better than Hornibrook because we’d never seen him. What gives us an indication someone the staff has less faith in would be better.

Coan might have been better yesterday if given more snaps in earlier games. I think ya gotta use all the tools you have at some point. What harm would it have been to play Coan for the 2nd half of the early blowout games and, say, Illinois? What harm would it have been to give Danny Vanden Boom some snaps yesterday?

The way this looks now, I would not be at all surprised to see a true freshman starting at QB next season.

To answer your questions:
What harm would it have been to play Coan for the 2nd half of the early blowout games and, say, Illinois?
They wanted to redshirt him with the new four-games rule. Back when he was unspoiled potential, they figured if you ended the year and he had two years left, he'll have a lot of incentive to leave with AH back. So he was the backup if competitive play was needed while VandenBoom was the mop up QB.

What harm would it have been to give Danny Vanden Boom some snaps yesterday?
I mean, you could've had a more unsure and jittery QB. Chances are he's worse.
I wonder about a freshman starting. Folks always want that because it's shiny and new. If the freshman starts because the freshman earns it, I'm all about that. But only then.
