Spurrier went to the NFL after the 2001 season, 6 years after that.
He won the NC the following year, in 1996.
That season put Bob Stoops' name out there as a potential HFC.

His '97 and '98 defenses in Gainesville cemented it, because they were saltyyyyyyyy.  The offense didn't maintain it's incredible level, but the defenses did, under Stoops.
