Where would you like to see a game?

1.  Not involving your own team (just to remove the who you'd like to see them play part).
2.  A place you've never been.
3.  You can add coolest place you have been other than your home stadium.

I mentioned on the other thread PSU and Nebraska.  ND would make my list obviously, as would Michigan.  Gator spoke highly of the experience at West Point.  This question is somewhat related to the Helmet discussion I think.  Perhaps we could glean something from a poll.

I'll go with Penn State, night game white out.

LSU would make the list as would Alabama, Clemson, OU, USC, ... yup.  Overlap.

I saw a night game at Cincinnati (vs WVU) on a Thursday night when both were good and was surprised how lively it was given the venue.  It was on ESPN and the place was relatively rockin'.

I saw a UGA game at Tenn (the one where Chubb went down on Play One) and was surprised how courteous everyone was for an important conference game.  Ole Miss was off the charts in that respect.

1) I'd love to see Michigan-Ohio State, in either venue.  Why not both?
2) I'd like to see the WLOCP
3) A Tennessee game at Neyland, Volunteer Navy yo!
4) Huskey Stadium in Seattle, also cool venue on the water

Coolest place I've ever seen a game other than my home stadium, is definitely Texas-OU at the Cotton Bowl.  That's just an unbelievable atmosphere.  OK OK, that's sort of cheating...  ;)

A place I've never been?

Georgia/Auburn at both places.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Iron Bowl... in Auburn.

Bryant-Denny was a shockingly underwhelming experience.  The stadium is large, but probably looks more like 85K than 100K, but it's really a very sterile environment.  The fans were neither raucous nor particularly passionate, it was almost as if they were there because they have nothing better to do on a Saturday (and hey, it's Alabama, there isn't much to do here anyway other than watch football).  If you take out the Million Dollar Band, it's virtually identical to an NFL game.

I'm surprised at the comment about the Bama game?  Were they playing Chattanooga?

Someone rated SEC tailgates and had Bama tied with Ole Miss (I know such rankings are silly).  I figured they must at least be pretty good.  Ole Miss was off the charts for me.

The neat thing about Ole Miss is how many escorts they had waiting for you at the game.

They were playing Western Kentucky from CUSA.  Not a marquee matchup, but the 'Toppers have a decent little program that can give good teams fits.

And maybe it's just that it was in September.  It was like 97 degrees that day.  Maybe the SEC should consider playing all September games at night, because the weather is ridiculous.  Only at the tail end of the month, there's just a hint that things are about to cool off a bit.

And as far as Ole Miss is concerned, I've heard lots of good things about their tailgating.

Good thing, because pretty soon that's going to be the only thing worth doing on Saturdays in Oxford.

If I were to go see non-Ohio State games I would want to see the big rivalries, thus:
  • Iron Bowl
  • USC/ND
  • Texas/Oklahoma
  • WLOCP
  • Apple Cup (Seattle only, I really don't have any desire to go to Pullman)
I would also like to see a game at West Point.

Another place I'd love to see a game is Neyland.  I stopped in Knoxville on the way to ATL for the final four a number of years ago and thought it looked like a really cool place to see a game.

By conference:

ACC - Georgia Tech
Big XII - Texas
Big Ten - Iowa (assuming the caveat of never been there)
Pac 12 - Washington
SEC - Georgia

Although Rose Bowl and OU-Texas at the Cotton Bowl are probably the overall top 2 on my list.

ND... against a top tier team preferably, but... just to take part in that..
Rose Bowl... same as above.
Baton Rouge...  Death Valley/Tiger Stadium...  at night.

weird one to be sure most of y'all wouldn't ever think about, but:

LaVell Edwards- BYU/Provo.  the surroundings are gorgeous, and... I could get some serious mountain biking before and after, though watering down with some suds afterward may present a problem.

Hawaii.. It was in Hawaii so there's that. And the Badgers won so there's that.

But the stadiette is pretty yucky.

We were going to go to BYU to see UW play this season, but a European trip this fall took that off the table.

I think I am really down to three big ones left to do.

1. Army v Navy (Philly)
2. Iron Bowl, prefer it at Auburn
3. Michigan at Ohio State

I wholly endorse UT v OU (Cotton Bowl) w/slight edge over WLOCP

Yeah, an LSU game in Baton Rouge is up there on my list as well.  Also, preferably, a night game.

That was my first ever college football game Nebraska at Hawaii.  I have a few square photos from my Mom's late 70s model 35mm.  I remember meeting Roger Craig in the hotel.

Hawaii.. It was in Hawaii so there's that. And the Badgers won so there's that.
