Obviously OSU is big.  Otherwise we better win every game, except Illinois.  That's the only one that wouldn't be a black eye loss
Doubt Iowa escapes here
Suburbia:Where they tear out the trees & then name streets after them.

Oh yeah, totally agree.

But my point is, it's nothing new.  Which is why the recent outcry about kickoff times surprises me.

And my other point is, if the universities don't want the TV money, they can exit the conferences and turn down the money.

And my other point is, if the coaches don't like the terms being dictated  by the network media broadcast partners that pay for all the bills, then they are always welcome to leave their $5M/year bigtime jobs, and go and find themselves a nice $80,000/year D3 or high school gig.

coaches just really don't want someone limiting their recruiting efforts

Big Ten teams in the Central Time Zone have been complaining about 11 AM kicks ever since games stopped automatically starting at 1:30 PM.

especially for fans that have a 2 or more hour drive to the stadium

Yeah, sure.  And I don't like that my employer doesn't give me 4 months of paid vacation every year.

My option is to quit and find something I like better.

Or to suck it up and STFU and do my job.

So... hey coach... STFU and do your job.

Like I said, I prefer afternoon kickoffs too.  And back in the 70s and 80s, when there was only 1 or 2 football games on TV per week, your school could start the game whenever it wanted.

But that all went out the window when TV started calling the shots.

Over the years I've seen a lot of B1G fans on this message board crow about all the money the conference brings in.  But the thing is, this is the price you have to pay for those fat network paychecks.  You can't have it both ways, that's not how any of this works.

Again-- that's what the money is for.

I think it all comes down to a CTZ inferiority complex to the ETZ.

I don't think so

11am or noon, don't matter.  Too early for big games

Huskers vs Boilers - sure

Buckeyes vs Ducks - no

I'm in that boat too and back when I used to go to all the games that is a LONG day.  You have to leave by around 8 even if you aren't doing any tailgating just to get there, get through traffic, get parked, and get to the Stadium.  Then after the game even if you leave town right away you generally aren't out of traffic and rolling at freeway speed until 5.

During the game at Minnesota, Haskel Garrett had a scoop ‘n score, and the announcer referred to him as “Haskel the rascal”.  Is this a thing, or a nickname? Geez I hope not! I had never heard that before, had you? What a horrible thing to be called, I hope it’s not true.
